He won’t be sold unless it’s for silly money. If he does, we would have to reinvest all of it.
My worry is, these days, that only gets you 2 players worthy of a prem starting 11. One would have to be a striker, who is unlikely to be as good as Dom (otherwise why didn't the DCL buying team just buy them instead?)

DCL for £60m is exactly the kind of signing Newcastle should be making, they need to be squad building and watching their English quota, whilst weakening potential rivals.

Borja for £30m (for example) would be a poor transfer for them compared to £60m for DCL.

Absolutely no bones about it though, it would be a tremendous sale for us if we could shift him for that amount.

A part of me would like to think he would stay and get better here because he does have a lot to work on but has potential however given the situation we are in a great offer maybe too difficult to refuse.

Then I look at the players we are linked with and none give me any enthusiasm at all.

If an offer of that magnitude hits Moshiris desk , make no mistake he's gone . The owner is just looking at spreadsheets now , zero interest in the school of science or the "project" etc. Just numbers.

A fit and healthy on form DCL is worth more to us than 60M. That said, we've not seen that all last season, and his injuries left us with no number 9 for most of last season. Unfortunately, it's a gamble either way. Trust that he can stay fit and bang us a few goals, or sell and replace.

I know money talks.

But I really dont see Dom wanting to play for a team who have owners like Newcastle.

Dom seems a man of honour and those rats at Newcastle really do not.

You'd have to think that something like a 35x profit would be difficult to turn down, even under better financial circumstances.

Wouldn't say much for the club's opinion of its agoraphobic recruitment team if they didn't fancy their chances putting a decent side together with £120m in sales, plus however much has gone out the door in wages this summer.

There is no such thing in the Premier League as an 'English quota', there is only a requirement of certain number of 'Home Grown' players. 'Home Grown' means that a player must have been on the books of a club affiliated with the FA for at least three years before they turn 21 – it does not mean that they have to be English.

Cesc Fabregas, for example, joined Arsenal at 16 and was classed as a homegrown player despite being a Spanish international.
