2022/23 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

I see the wind-up merchant has added DCL to his bait-list.

Having been laughed out of court for saying that Patterson was no good he's having
a pop at DCL. Dom is working with Gordon and Grey and Iwobi who never made a run past him
in the entire match. Dom did miss one big chance but the idea that Dom is not one of the team's best
players is nuts

I think its become clear that @davek doesnt have any agenda.

Hes been very consistent in his views.
Agenda?

Lol.

Just open your eyes and observe how 'kin rubbish this feller is. We take to the field with 10 men every time he plays.

Do you want Calvert-Lewin taking the shirt of an effective striker?

Strange.

Going to the World Cup this lad. I hope he does actually. Put him in the shop window if he gets half a game and sell him.

This is how I imagine @davek when he warms up in a topic

Anyway, not Dom's finest game. He needs competition or a possible partner. I can't remember the last time we had two capable forwards in the squad. Johnson and Yakubu?

Always seem content with one for years.

He needs better service, the players you have mentioned had Cahil Arteta in this team have Gordon & Gray enough said

I'm a DCL fan but today I thought he was given a lesson by Mitrovic - movement , touch, positioning, staying onside ffs, bullying defenders etc.

Yes, DCL is coming back from injury etc but still.

…dominating this thread, Dave, but I don’t see you visiting many others. Gordon was worst than Dominic Calvert-Lewin but I haven’t seen you in there tonight. Of course, you don’t have an agenda against Gordon.

Has Gordon been striking the place out since last January like Calvert-Lewin?

Gordon played brilliantly at times last season because he had an attacker like Richarlison to make runs and take the pressure of him to be the goalscorer.

Calvert-Lewin cant do that.

Look at him yesterday after missing that sitter: feigns a shoulder injury to try and hide his lack of finishing.

Just compare him with Mitrovic. It's a pitiful comparison.

Yes Mitrovic had a very good game, but he's had a good year and a half and is full of confidence. Calvert-Lewin was that player before his injuries so he needs to be given time. If he's still looking like Bambi on Ice in the New Year then we have an issue.

I hear you, but today Mitrovic looked by far the better player and my point is I hope DCL watches that and learns.
And if we had Mitrovic in our team today we'd have won. I'm not bashing Dom, just saying what I saw

I'm not disagreeing but I don't think it's just a lack of effort. DCL needs to build his confidence back, he knows what he needs to do. The question is whether he's a Jelavic or whether this is a blip following a long lay off.

Nothing to do with effort, its how DCL applied his effort compared to Mitrovic today, imo there was no comparison.
But, let's be clear, I'm a fan of DCL and his goal last week was top drawer. But compared against Mitrovic today he came 2nd
