If you havent got the talent in midfield you need a willing runner up front at least. Calvert lewin isnt fit enough to do that most of the time and even when fit he's not that type.

If no wingers/fullbacks crossing to him then he's virtually offering nothing.

This is a fair point actually - although he used to be that type. Carlo Ancelotti coached that out of him wanting him to play like Inzaghi, stay the width of the penalty box, disappear the whole game but pop up with a tap in. He’s never been the same since and he’s lost a lot from his all round game as a result.
 
Looked well off the pace, but that could be that he doesn't create anything for himself and the rest of the team creates even less.

Yep. And even though we didnt have wingers digne was his main supply.
Benitez got rid of that supply staight away.

From the few options we had for creating consistent chances/goals. It’s not like we had lots of alternative avenues for creating. Replaced him with someone who doesn’t cross the half way line, pass forward and is allergic to putting a ball in the box. Genius.
 
Not good last night. Didn't win a header and his close control was very poor (first goal was at least partially due to this).
It's always the same. He gets injured, people think things will be alright when he's back, and then when he's back we all remember that he's a bit limited. I like him, and think he can be good if the system suits, but well off the pace at the moment. He's not going to make goals like Richie did (occasionally) and we don't have the creativity to give it to him on a plate.

Nah, he's not a fraud. If he gets decent delivery he will score. But it's annoying that he's taken to be the solution to all our problems when he's not playing. It was the same when James was injured, same when Allan was injured, it was even the same when bleeding Doucoure was injured a season or so ago. It's a bit like saying "if only Mina could stay fit". He's a decent enough donkey, but hardly a world beater. We should be able to ride-off a few injuries, especially to average players. Oh well, I'm sure when we bring in a new striker everything will be fine.

Seen how poor the majority of them were at half time & not one replacement made - never does - if he is playing a half fit DCL which he is or DCL is completely finished maybe after injury - Frank is letting us down Simms cause more trouble for them in 5 minutes ....
