2022/23 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

There’s a lot of people contradicting themselves in this thread….

I’ll say this, if he’s feeling “tightness” there’s no reason he can’t battle through it. I’m sure a lot of these guys are feeling tight and sore after Saturday’s match. It’s totally normal after something with such high intensity, especially with the way Dyche has been running his practices and the intensity we played with Saturday. I would start Dominic Calvert-Lewin personally if all it is is some tightness. Add in the adrenaline and getting the body moving we would probably do a lot of wonders. See how he is at half. If he says he can go, make a sub at 60.
Problem is if he pulls it then we are snookered. I would keep him on the bench and see if he can do any minutes if not save him for Leeds which lets face it is a crucial game

All goes back to not recruiting properly Maupay was never the profile of forward we needed we needed either someone good in the air who could be a target man or someone with pace and threat he has neither.

Follow blue just told me that Rooney played 5 World Cup games with a torn groin and didn't tell anyone...its about heart and with him he's got absolutely zero...he's been absolutely molly coddled to the point that slightest thing with him means time on the sideline.

Am absolutely sick of him.....if you told him he had to run up and down Paris catwalk for 90 minute he'd more than happy to oblige.
Yeah you’ve been told porkys there, it’s physically impossible to play with a torn muscle anywhere in your leg

I think maybe the word tightness is just being loosely used. Every single PL player will play all games in their career hurting somewhere, it just happens, you are sore and tight after 90 mins in the PL.

I suspect this is more "it feels so tight if I go into a sprint race it will twang" issue.

Maybe he was for the style Lampard wanted to play(and seemed to think we wanted too)
Even when Dom was fit, he wasn't used as much as he was last saturday, not even close

Maybe but he never really played intricate football in forward areas did he? Palace was the only game you could argue

Unless he is totally fine we cant risk him incase he gets a strain that rules him out of the Leeds game, a massive 6 point game we have to win.
When he went off against Arsenal he had been over to talk to the staff a few minutes before he got hooked, so he was obviously feeling something and Sean took no chances.

I once played for 80 minutes with a torn, detached, testicle... not sure who it belonged to, I just kept it in my sock.

What’s Dom’s value at this point? He can’t stay healthy for us and it is to the point we are having to pick and choose which games we rather he play in to give us the best chance. It’s concerning all around. Hopefully we bring in a decent striker one of these days ( lol ) but for now we are stuck with him.
