even a yard dog forward like woods would have given an option when Dominic Calvert-Lewin goes off sick, even Niasse made stuff happen and scored goals
Yep never understood why we did not try to get him on loan, similar profile of forward as DCL - could fill in when DCL not available and knows how Dyche plays - I know it would have felt like the Burnley-isation of Everton but needs must

Waited and waited until we were deeply unattractive didn't back or sack Lamps. Godawful

The surprise on our faces when he leads the line tonight and we realise we'd been well and truly had by Dychy and it was merely a ploy to get Liverpool to lower their guard and play a 1-5-4 formation due to our supposed non-existent attack.

Because it would end up costing us 15m in the summer and we would be stuck with him into his mid 30s.

I don't rate him as a striker. And especially as Everton number ruddy 9. A blight on that famous number he has been. And yet I hope he is fit as I know dyche will work to his best strengths at holding it up till other attackers get involved.

Harsh, he’s a good number 9 when he’s fit and it’s not like he wants to have all these problems, he strikes me as someone who wants to be the hero and stand up and be counted (like any good striker should).

Also, a blight on the number 9 is a bit much when it’s previously been worn by Kone, Sandro, Beattie and Barlow, especially considering Dom, Lukaku and Yakubu are the only forwards we’ve had since the start of the premier league to hit 20 in a season.

What for a loan? im not suggesting a loan with an obligation - if they wanted that we leave it
Forest have a loan with a 15m obligation (if conditions are met). I imagine the conditions are if they stay up and will have been a key part of Newcastle agreeing to it.

I might have used strong language. But come on he's worn the shirt 7 years. Had 1 goal scoring season worthy of the Everton 9. I agree with all them others but they where moved on.

He wants to be that hero but he has not been. Whats he a 1 in 4/5 striker. If you are going to be doing bad numbers well atleast be the hero you talk off. You know the type. The lad you can rely on to bloody the nose of the like of United, the RS. The man for the big games and big moments.

I just hope our next number nine that nails it down as Dom seemingly has is a lot better.

This is what maintains the distance to the clubs at the very top

Any player that shows the ability to do it gets snapped up quickly by champions League teams

Bit harsh this - the lad was played out of necessity while he was still developing, so for a couple of seasons he was learning on the job and one of those was the Koeman/Allardyce season where created nothing at all. He then had a couple of good goal scoring seasons when, shock horror, we had a decent manager and a team which was creating chances. It's sort of pointless discussing his form since then because he's been half fit in a dysfunctional team ever since
