I don't rate him as a striker. And especially as Everton number ruddy 9. A blight on that famous number he has been. And yet I hope he is fit as I know dyche will work to his best strengths at holding it up till other attackers get involved.
His performance until he went off last Saturday was top notch
His injuries are a blight on his career but I rate him highly when fit

Talk to me about the famous no 9 of the last 25 years.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is prob top 4-5

That is more a sad indictment of the central strikers we have had in that period rather than a reflection of DCL’s ability.

I don’t know if these lids wore the fabled No. 9 jersey when the were here but IMO Big Dunc, Kevin Campbell, The Yak, Saha, Beckford, Lukaku and Wayne Rooney if we are counting him were better strikers than DCL in the oast 25 years.

Beckford is a bad shout haha. He played one season in the Premier League his entire career.

Wouldn't put Beckford In amongst those, as he was always an option off the bench rather than the talismanic leading striker. Had a lot of ability though, but was generally a cameo and his career with us felt short. Other than that you are 100% right. I'd even argue there's a case Andy Johnson is above him.

I thought I put AJ in……I meant to

He is a menace in the box and gets on the end of things, but you never see him bend one into the corner when he is one on one with the keeper, in fact he often fluffs his lines. You need to play to his strength as a hold up centre forward to get the best out of him.

That said he is probably the best we have had in the last few years simply because there hasn't been anyone else of note. Mind you his header for the winner against Palace last season was a seminal moment for which he will be long remembered.

I have a feeling that this guy might be unavailable for a while...hopefully I am wrong but don't see him starting any time soon.
