2022/23 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

I mean, take away the money, and I think I’d struggle given the same situation he’s been under.

He’s went from an aspiring Premier League regular to full England Internation and 20-goal striker under the best coach in the land.

Expectations increase, pressure increases and truthfully the club have let him down.

It doesn’t help doing controversial photoshoots etc which are clearly going to create a divide between fans who can’t understand that it’s his hobby, just like going Travelling is, or going the pub on a Sunday afternoon for us.

I don’t think he’s physically injured; and if it is mental, then I wish him all
The very best getting help
And into a better place.
When the going was good it was pretty clear that he was looking to leave us for a more glamorous job. What we can’t do now is make the mistake of giving him a new contract. We will just have to take our medicine and let him leave on a free when his contract is up

Googled in less than a second, just to let you know that what you read from Davva or Toasty on "facey" might not always be accurate.
Only go on here for Everton ... don't do any social stuff Twitter arsebook .... like I said it was pointed out to me by a sainburys staff member I used it as a reference that we are all easily offended by the way that's me included...

Oh I wouldn’t be looking to tie him down myself.

I think you’ve got to look at the whole picture and not a sample. The reality is, we had a window there where we could fetched £40-50m. He’s been good for 1 season in 5, whilst being coached by a World Class manager.

He needs to be moved on purely so the board realise that having zero strikers isn’t a model for success. It’s their fault he’s got the pressure on him, we should have been bringing in a 3rd striker that season under Benitez, now we’re pinning our hopes on Simms.

"Dyche wants Dominic Calvert-Lewin to be Bob Latchford, instead he has Sam Smith!"

That's a very ignorant and deeply prejudiced comment.

I mean, one can opine that a player may not be quite as robust as some ideal from the past without trying to drag in somebody who has absolutely nothing to do with this at all or ridicule the player himself by associating him in some negative way with that innocent person.

When some of those photo shoots were put out last year, my feeling was the timing was atrocious and the player was going to draw attention to himself (which of course was intended). The nature of that attention, however, would largely depend on how he was performing on the pitch. Essentially, I felt he was badly advised because they came out when he was injured. Therefore, he was leaving himself open to the charge - however unfair - that he cared more about his extra-curricular activities than he did his day job. Had they come out when he was on for 20 goals a season, the reaction would have been far more benign. I notice a distinct absence of photo spreads this season, which is either a product of people around him learning from their experience or the dimming of his star.

For everyone's sake, he needs to get whatever help he needs (if he needs it), and we need to move on. Jordan's comment is cheap and nasty.

The whole photoshoot thing has only been blown out of proportion because of his injury record since, if he was still scoring nobody would care.

Clearly someone said to him:
You like fashion
You are handsome
You are getting recognition with an England call up etc.
Do you want to be a role model for kids?
Do you want to challenge gender stereotypes?
Do you want to get paid a bit on the side whilst enjoying your hobby?

There is nothing I can see that’s wrong with that at all, but it’s been used as a stick to beat him with by bell ends like Jordan who think because he did a tiny bit of modelling that he’s a wimp and for some reason doesn’t care about his fitness and isn’t doing everything he can to get injury free.

It’s pathetic, warped logic and I feel bad for the lad that he’s getting slagged off by knob heads in the media just for enjoying his free time the way he chose to.

Yeah, it’s so bizarre this narrative that’s been invented out of thin air that all our fans thought Lukaku and Stones were crap and hounded them out. People moaned about Lukaku chatting crap on international duty, and Stones told the Park End to calm down once because he did a Cruyff turn in his own six yard box with Son breathing down his neck. That is basically the sum total of the criticisms they got.
Nah, Lukaku got absolute dogs abuse for his hold up play (or lack of).
