He did in here whenever he went a couple of games without scoring but rarely at the game

Wish we had Rom now, what a striker he was for us
Without a shadow of a doubt, Rom is the best striker we've had since the 80s. People like Kev, Dunc and Yakubu will get the praise, but he was the best finisher.

If he went through on goal, you'd expect him to finish; a loose ball in the box, you'd be confident that he'd find the net. We'd be midtable with him here.

But, you're right - he did get a fair bit of unfair criticism. He wasn't perfect, but some of the stuff was beyond the pale.

The whole photoshoot thing has only been blown out of proportion because of his injury record since, if he was still scoring nobody would care.

Clearly someone said to him:
You like fashion
You are handsome
You are getting recognition with an England call up etc.
Do you want to be a role model for kids?
Do you want to challenge gender stereotypes?
Do you want to get paid a bit on the side whilst enjoying your hobby?

There is nothing I can see that’s wrong with that at all, but it’s been used as a stick to beat him with by bell ends like Jordan who think because he did a tiny bit of modelling that he’s a wimp and for some reason doesn’t care about his fitness and isn’t doing everything he can to get injury free.

It’s pathetic, warped logic and I feel bad for the lad that he’s getting slagged off by knob heads in the media just for enjoying his free time the way he chose to.
It's crap he gets so much stick also a shame that he seems to have knocked it on the head now probably because of the reaction he got, he never posts on Instagram now either

Quite incredible that it hasn’t occurred to ANYONE associated with the club in the last 15 years to look into this. We moved into Finch Farm in 2007 and pretty much since then we’ve had at least one long term injury per season. I thought Moyes would’ve been all over something like that.
Dunno if you saw the Dyche introductory vid where he starts striding out he FF main training pitch and tells Thelwell that it's not the same dimensions as Goodison's pitch.

Thelwell looks absolutely clueless.

It's honestly embarrassing.

I mean, take away the money, and I think I’d struggle given the same situation he’s been under.

He’s went from an aspiring Premier League regular to full England Internation and 20-goal striker under the best coach in the land.

Expectations increase, pressure increases and truthfully the club have let him down.

It doesn’t help doing controversial photoshoots etc which are clearly going to create a divide between fans who can’t understand that it’s his hobby, just like going Travelling is, or going the pub on a Sunday afternoon for us.

I don’t think he’s physically injured; and if it is mental, then I wish him all
The very best getting help
And into a better place.
But he is.

The physical issues can certainly play a part in other mental issues on the back of it but he has niggling injuries because he sustained a really, really bad quad tear 18 months ago and has been mishandled ever since.

Our fans moan at everyone and everything, probably because our players are generally crap most of the time and do crap things, but I don’t recall Lukaku ever being particularly singled out.
I'm of the opinion he was never fully appreciated by a good section of our fanbase for how good he was.

I actually think Dom falls into that category with some people who made their mind up on a lad who was signed for £1.5m just as a punt for the academy and within a year ended up being our starting CF through circumstance.

Not that I'm saying Dom is ever as good as Lukaku was or anything like that, and the club's failure to replace him in the last 12 months will be our undoing.

It’s all part of the 120 point plan - make sure that the Bramley Moore pitch is the same dimensions as Finch Farm, rather than the other way around. He’s one step ahead
