I remember, years ago, a young Ryan Giggs was struggling to shrug off a minor calf strain. The United medics were baffled why it kept recurring. Turned out, the clutch on his Ferrari was so stiff and travelled long, was knackering anything the medics could do. New car, new Giggs.

I think what he is also pointing to (and in no way am I alleging this with DCL whose injury record was reasonable up to this last 18-24 months) is that some players are psychologically weary of injuries. This is bound to happen to some players who have had a significant or career threatening injury and you either respond like Gomes did, or respond like Seamus did. There was also some noise a few years back about Daniel Sturridge at the RS who had to be 100% or he’d rule himself out of games. I think therefore Jordan does have a more general point, but in my opinion it does not apply to DCL. As for his comments around the lad‘s photoshoot, those sort of comments are crass and have no place in todays discourse.

I know it can be frustrating but the lad’s clearly either got an ongoing medical issue which the medical team are looking into, or he may have some ongoing mental health issues which he alluded to having last year. Either way, it’s not on him, that the club have been under resourced in the forward area for years, and he needs our support.

I've pointed it out a few times I'm sure, but half the squad having Lambo Urus's last year has had an big impact.
