His trajectory last season was this:

Injured on eye of the season. Returned 9th October v Man. United as sub. Featured in all the games up to Leicester at home and then I think did his shoulder and missed the Bournemouth games before World cup break.

Wasn't ready for return with Wolves on Boxing day but then featured in the following games up to Arsenal at home.

Then returned for Palace away in late April and featured up to Wolves first half.

So his average last season on coming back from injury was six matches before another problem developed. Indeed when you consider he was withdrawn at half time v Man. City because the game was considered lost it was even shorter in some spells.

Given he's had a very little pre season in match intensity there is nothing to suggest he's capable of starting 10-15 games without a problem so doubt it will be long into the new season before he breaks down again.

I think as it stands Danjuma will get the early games as CF and hopefully he can chip in with a few goals. Then someone will be signed around deadline Day given the chase for Almeria guy looks to be fruitless as he wants to go to Atalanta and they're very close to selling Hojlund to Man. United now so will have plenty of money soon.

Dyche referred after the game to having a couple more players available next weekend, given that he's been training but not playing I think we'll probably see him play for a while at least against Sporting.

Not true. He’s been training for longer then that.

The fact he’s had zero pre season games doesn’t bode well,

Pre season is massive in terms of getting your body conditioned correctly for another tough season.

I don't know anything about anything, but the games are just a fraction of the work put in during pre-season right? More about sharpness than actual fitness I always thought.

It's not ideal that DCL hasn't played any minutes yet, but that might have been the plan from the start? Just because we don't know the reason, doesn't mean there is one.

I've just seen a 10 minute vid of him training and he looked fine and moved around as well as the rest of the squad.

Had a few solid and accurate shots on goal and I couldn't see anything wrong with him.

Three things we know are gonna happen:
He will play at some point
He will get injured at some point
He will be out for rest of season.

Why do we waste so much time and effort on this toe rag?

complete madness if we go into another season with this lad as our main hope. I remember a genius lampard saying this time last season..." oh who could have forseen dcl getting injured?"

the world frank....the world

Because when he’s fit he’s better then anything else we can afford. If it was easy as just signing somebody else we’d have done it. We also can’t sell him because nobody wants to take on the risk
