Looks back to the scrawny but toned frame he had when he first broke through. Not an easy thing to do shedding muscle whilst still maintaining elite overall fitness. Suspect callisthenics and Pilates will have replaced squatting Michael Keane to try and change the structure and flexibility of his muscles and connective tissues. Will all be for nothing if we don’t work out a way to create chances, but he is moving freely and didn’t look reticent. So so hard to have any confidence in his availability.

Seems a really nice lad. Be great if he played 30+ games, contributed well during a boring mid-table season, then tied himself to the club with an extension. He’s been spoken about constantly by fans and media as the vital thing we have been missing, but still isn’t “adored” by the fans because he’s never actually done it over a long period. Strange contradiction. We are all obsessed with the idea of him, rather than what he’s ever consistently produced. Hoping for some scripted and rehearsed baby related goal celebration next weekend.

Fact is we are better when he is in the team as could be seen by the first half yesterday. If (and that's a very big if) he stays fit, we won't be anywhere near the relegation zone this season. Got to have a new alternative to him for competition and backup though (additionally to Youssef) as we simply cannot put all of our eggs in one basket again.

Happy enough to see him average 30 min a game, the young Portuguese lad plus one other and a wide player who can cross a ball and mid table should be achieved

I'm wondering if he's gonna change his game. Adopt a style similar to say a Big Dunc or Sheringham, with less hamstring sapping sprints into the channels.

It would be a shame, because with his pace, and his physical prowess, he has it in his locker to be the 'complete forward.' but if playing like a more traditional target man, and dropping in, instead of running the channels a lot helps keep him fit, then it's a no brainer. because whilst it would be a shame to neutralize his explosive pace, you can be a good target man without having to run as fast as Dom can.

Been thinking this. I honestly think we should be playing a 433 and let the other 2 do the wide work. just tell him to work around the box. It makes no sense to have him running around. He needs to be managed.
