Several are desperately in need of One.

People made their minds up 7 years ago and they aint changing it now.

Watching him lead the line for us makes me happy.

If people dont rate him, thats up to them.

But they really don't need to take every single opportunity to express them, it doesn't help anybody!!

He really isn’t far from Watkins in regards to goals.

As a CF in the PL (so taking out any goals/minutes as a wide player/RWB):

DCL has 45 in the equivalent of 129 games.
Watkins has 47 in 116.

The caveat to that is, lots of DCLs minutes in his early days, were as a sub so less likely to score so it’s skewed. Whereas Watkins has been the main striker for Villa for his whole time in the PL.

Toney is just a fantastic finisher and is ahead of both of them in that regard. But I’d argue DCL offers a lot more to our teams play than either of them do.

The equivalent ? He’s played 200 times …

Watkins came to the prem later and is now better .

Definitely looks like he’s a better finisher and looks like we will be playing for a better team over the next few years

Wouldn't mind Watkins tbf. Think it was when we had Yak and AJ the last time we had two decently capable forwards with different skillsets.

He's a really good player, I'm just grateful for Dom playing games and actual strikers on the bench.

Indeed. I think what folk forget is Villa paid a reported £28m with add ons for him. That's not buttons tbf. Bit of a gamble for a lad who mostly played lower league before that. It's paid off, good recruitment. I can imagine a few on here going berserk if we paid that for a championship striker!

Yes, with many of them as a sub, certainly in his early days.

Watkins has generally started and played full 90s. It’s harder coming into a game off the bench. Which is why I looked at their minutes played rather than just basic appearances.
