2023/24 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

If a linesman and ref standing on top of the incident don't flag it up then it's totally wrong for VAR to step in and steer the official to change his mind, not what VAR is about. If it needs slow motion replays to call it then let it stand. None Evertonians are saying it was not a foul. It was a subjective decision by VAR driven by their bias. Never a foul in a month of Sundays and nicely taken by Calvert Lewin to make up in some way for the poor misses in the first 45.

But he would score more goals if they weren't wrongly disallowed...

You're the only person on here, the broadcasting team and on Sky Sports News that thinks that goal should have been disallowed.

You're either an RS scumbag or too embarrased to say you didn't watch the game and didn't see "Goal - Dominic Calvert-Lewin" so thought you'd just pile straight into your favourite thread.

Which one is it?
No answer again.

Embarrassing this cartoon man.

Personally, I thought it was a foul by Gomes as it looked like he stood on the foot of the other player and then pretty much went right through him.

But then you get Patterson getting kicked through from behind and it's described as "being out muscled"

I thought Dominic Calvert-Lewin played okay today but feel at times he needs to "stop thinking" and just strike the ball first time without taking an extra touch.

The best forwards have natural instinct, he doesn’t. He’s a centre forward yet at times he looks uncomfortable being one, an awkwardness, scuffed shots , poor lay offs , lacks anticipation and is a yard or two positionally from being in the right place and the right time which the best forwards have.

He’s a frustrating player because you look at the performance he put in at Brighton away last season, the way he skinned the full back and set up the first goal, it was brilliant play or the way he took the disallowed goal today, excellent.

I wouldn’t go as far as saying he’s Tom Davies levels of overhype, at times tho it feels like more that it’s in hope he delivers than expectation. The best forwards have presence, there is an excitement or opposition fans are anxious when they are involved in a opportunity to score because more often than not they deliver. DCL lacks that presence imo.

Thats your problem, you keep saying the best forwards.

Hes not 1 of the best Strikers in the world or even the League.

But he does a great job leading the line for us, his finishing has been pretty poor recently, but for most of the season he has 100% helped us win football games.

So no, hes not a World Class Striker, but hes a very good number 9.

I mentioned the best forwards for two reasons. From my own personal experience of the way some fans talk about him, friends, social gatherings, work, they describe him a lot better then what he is (IMO) and two , if he’s Everton’s number 9 I want him to aspire to be amongst the best. Maybe he is I can’t speak to that.

I don’t agree with you that he’s a very good number 9, he’s too inconsistent for that imo which is why I said I get frustrated with him in my original post.

Not very good at this, are you. Astonishing hypocrisy and irony....

What happened there then? Is there something I'm missing? (genuine question.)

Did he say he only wanted to take the last penalty?

He certainly wouldn't have been my choice to take a pen before that one. Everybody knows that your best penalty taker takes the first one, and you carry on in that fashion. No point sticking your best penalty taker on the 5th pen if you miss the first three. Christiano Ronaldo waited til last once for Portugal, didn't he, and never even got to take it.

YOUR 'ANSWER'
I think your very naive John from bootle.

For sure his fans overhype him, I love him, hes everything I want my number 9 to be, clearly he could score more goals, but I feel he gets a bum rush from certain sections of the fanbase, so I will defend him.

Its up to people what they think of him, for me hes great and I enjoy watching him play.
