2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

The crazy thing is, if this is genuinely the best he can play and he's putting his best effort in, it's not convincing the club he's worth a better contract.

It's also not convincing other clubs to shell out on him AND offer him the money he's after.

So essentially, limbo.

We don't know the full story of course as any number of things may have happened/be happening behind the scenes to result in the current stalemate.

Might be another “arteta money” situation. Something already agreed in principle that will go through on deadline day. We get a loan in as replacement. Obviously I could be way off on that.

Think about the club offering him a massive contract and what he shows on the pitch. He's abysmal. He's got to be one of the worst strikers the league has seen in decades in terms of creating ANYTHING for himself. Either sell him or bench him.

Really comforting for opposition defenders to be up against a striker who is so poor on the ball. Absolutely no threat unless it's put on a plate for him and that is rare considering our other attacking options.

None of them got 6 years as the undisputed 9. This bloke is one poor striker. He will cost us dearly if he stays.
You don’t hit 50+ goals in this league if you’re poor. He won’t cost us dear if he stays because he’ll have committed to the club, what will cost us dear is kicking the can down the road and not making a definitive decision on his future, we can get a fee now or we lose him for nothing next July
