2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

It's funny, I was looking at all other strikers we have had, some of them we have spent huge money on (far more than DCL) and their comparative records.

DCL 56 in 231
Tosun 9 in 50
Beto 4 in 40
Chermiti 0 in 18
Rondon 1 in 27
Ramirez 1 in 16
Walcott 10 in 77
Gordon 7 in 65
Gray 9 in 67
Kean 2 in 32
Broja 0 in 4.

If you looked at that list, the main conclusion is we don't create many chances for our strikers. The second conclusion would be that DCL is by no stretch the worst offender, and quite the opposite really.

He basically has way more goals than the rest of them combined in just over half the games. And they cost way over 100 combined as well, and have contributed 43 goals to DCLs 56. Like I'm doubtful we find the next Alan Shearer when he goes.

This doesn’t paint a true picture though does it.

Most of the above have only played partial matches with no consistent run, others on the list aren’t strikers so unsure as to why they are listed.

DCL starts when he is fit and that is a terrible return.

I can’t imagine if he played for another team and we was linked with him many would be happy

Broja 0 in 4?
he's only started 1 match lol.

but he’s not ? he used to win headers - doesn’t anymore - He misses way to many chances especially for a side not creating a lot - he used to want to play for us - doesn’t anymore - He used to run more - doesn’t anymore - sorry mate but you need to look at the facts and stats - He is not good !
This is the crux of it - he is fed up and wants out - so the eff would I. years of hoofball and nothing else. He will play well again for a club that plays well

Pretty obvious from his performances and comments made by him and his family over the last few years he feels he's been hard done by here. All probably stems back to that run of form under Ancelotti and his goal for England. Think he and the people around him really expected it to only get better from there and it hasn't worked out like that.

But it begs the question where to next for the lad. Would he start regularly teams in the top half? Probably not. Would he be happy to sit on the bench? Maybe. Will they pay the wages he's looking for? Probably not. The answers to those questions suggest his options are limited.

"I looked at all other forwards and then removed Richarlison because he didn't suit my argument"

After years of slating Calvert-Lewin, amazing how quickly the narrative has switched to "doesn't matter who plays upfront...." they won't do well because no supply.
It's not amazing at all when you realize it's only being said by the same people who have been desperate to defend Dom being doc muck for years.

Everyone else is having a bit of patience with a player coming back from a long term injury.

My conclusion would be most of them just aren't or weren't good enough. Part of the reason we don't create chances is because the majority of the players above can't make anything happen. None of them have gone on to do anything elsewhere.

In commentary yesterday the stat about it being DCL's 13the game without a goal was mentioned.

I guarantee that every Evertonian listening just shrugged their shoulders. No one expects him to do anything other than go on long goal droughts.

Probably the most appalling leader of our attack in my lifetime...and I've seen Brett Angell.
And people just accept it these days Dave.

It's shameful what we've come to accept.
