For me, that late miss against Villa was the straw that broke the camel's back. That isn't a low confidence miss, that's just a pure lack of ability miss, which has been evidence for many years now. The ball was set up perfectly for him - and he ballooned it over the bar under little pressure.
It's time for both him and Everton to go their separate ways, both parties will be better for it. The Friedkin Group, Kevin Thelwell, Sean Dyche and now David Moyes all knew and know that a striker is a priority signing this January, and it's already beyond a joke that one wasn't ready to join in training on 1st January, so desperate were we for a new goalscorer.
Calvert-Lewin can't score one-on-one with the goalkeeper attempts, he can't score headers any more, he can't create a moment of magic to score and now he can't convert when the ball is tee'd up nicely for him six yards out.
Tell him there will be no new contract and either his agent helps him find a move immediately as we're bringing in a starting striker, or he goes for free in the summer and sits on the bench until then. Rather have Ndiaye in a free role up front than DC Lewin.
