2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Dom was never a natural striker because he was converted from a midfielder I reackon. He comes accross well but the fact he stalled on a contract for years he seems to have a hugely inflated idea of how good he is considering he wants a huge contract for scoring few, in reality he is lucky the club has been such a state or he would have been replaced. Once he leaves I struggle to see him being first choice at another PL club, maybe in Italy where his physical skills can be harnessed more in a weaker league, apart from a few seasons he has never been consistent enough. He has one good game in four or five and now his finishing has got even worse he is reliant on his being a target man which is fine but we need more goals.

he'll get a move to someone like the barcodes, get loads of cash, he won't play much (or score many) and his next contract will be at a championship side where he wont get much at all.

We really are the sweet spot for these kind of players but its their choice.

If he was at top top side, he’d get one or two chances per game due to oppositions defending with 11 men, and he’d miss.

Stays here and gets one or two chances because we have no creativity, even though teams don’t pack their defence against us. And he’d miss.

His niche seems to be to play for a mid table side with an accepting and flaccid fanbase, but only games against another mid table side that doesn’t pack their box, and doesn’t have world class CBs.

That niche does exist, but it doesn’t pay £100k+ a week.

If Callum Wilson is nearly fit I'd be tempted to sell DCL to Newcastle and loan Wilson for the rest of the season.
Can’t loan and another nearly fit striker is not what we need. DCL has been nearly fit for 2 years. Broja is not fit. Chrmiti is not fit.

We need to find someone who’s already played 20 odd games this season and can literally go straight into the team. That’s why going to the championship makes sense in my opinion.

Agree on the gambling on the nearly fit, maybe, possibly, probably not fit players.

We need to trust Moyes finds someone who can make a difference. Too many bit part or no-show players signed in recent times.

I know it sounds ridiculous but if I was Arteta I would be tempted to take him to Arsenal.
Arteta is on his last legs at Arsenal if he doesn't win a top trophy this year they will out him.
If he sticks him in the middle and tells him to stay there he might just get the goals he has been lacking.
DCL is hopeless if he needs more than one touch of the ball but when he doesnt have to think that's when he is most dangerous.

But but the stats. He's brilliant really. Your own eyes are wrong, you idiots. He. Wore. A. Dress. Once.

But but the stats. He's brilliant really. Your own eyes are wrong, you idiots. Another 8 years and he'll achieve his potential. Another 8 years of £21 million on wages for excuses excuses excuses, no goals and everybody else's fault for no return. Nobody has been offside or has a lower shot conversion in the entire top leagues in Europe this season but every other team in Europe is worse than us and everyone elses fault?
Calm down lad, not everything is black or white
I was responding to the claim he's missed 50 big chances like the other day's one, he hasn't. The team has had less than half that many this season.
Doesn't mean he's not under performing because he is, but it doesn't help when you get one big chance every two games and so much is riding on it. Not good for a striker lacking confidence.
I expect Moyes will increase the chance level and he will have less excuses, but also less pressure on each chance.
