2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

He was a youngster before those seasons really.

I'm not sure why goals don't count under a good manager? Do all the goalscorers at Manchester United not count under Alex Ferguson too? I'm not sure kn that logic.
I never said his goals under not-good managers don't count, so I'm not sure where you've got that from. The numbers show that Carlo aside he's never been a prolific striker. Plenty of younger players have scored more goals than him as have plenty of older ones.

Whichever way you slice it, a striker who averages about 6 goals a season simply is not going to fire us up the league. To me it's illogical to cling on to striker that misses as many chances as he does, goes on as many non-scoring runs like he does, and hasn't put up a good goal return in five years.

The second point is fair. It was just that you were omitting his goals under Carlo on the basis that Carlo is a good manager. Maybe he's a good manager because he could see DCL was a good striker but you just had to play to his strengths more?

Post Carlo, he's just not been fit at all. He's a shell of the player before which is a shame.

What's funny though, and I mean I did it before, but we have still spent hundreds of millions on loads of other attackers since Dom has been at the club, and the only one was anything approaching a comparable return is Richarlison. So some of this is very much an Everton issue, not a Calvert Lewin issue.

But yes, the club have basically not wanted to offer him any kind of contract, and that has been a sensible decision. For what we paid for him, he's done a fantastic job really but it makes sense to say thanks but no thanks moving forwards.

Only reason people rated him, was because alternative was Maupay. He isn't actually that good, that miss against Villa proved it. DCL is nowhere near as good as Lukaku was. I've said on here I wouldn't rate DCL as any better than Beckford. He had good period other than under Carlo, I think he gets abuse. But no worse than Keane or certain other players.
I am 65 and can still trap a ball better than Lukaku. Very good at scoring no doubt but a Beto in all other aspects.
If this club had a Lukaku-esque striker that could put ~20 goals a season on the board every year for the first time in almost a decade no one would care about their work rate or hold up play or ball-trapping skills. That's what we've been crying out for for years, yet somehow we end up with Beto and Maupay and co.

Got to be a zero percent chance he comes back next year. Even if you could convince yourself that the man will somehow begin to score goals, he's constantly not available.

For whatever reason you want to make up he's scored 17 league goals in the last 4 seasons, including a number of penalties. The 4.25 goals per season has to end if we want to push on
His injuries have been horrendous over the last four years. Some will say he's been unlucky, some will say his injuries have been poorly managed because he's the only option we have had. Others will wet their keks.

I see his agent is trying desperately to get us back to the table...

Auf wiedersehen fair Dominic. Best of luck mate but you played your cards with your Billy big bollocks act over the last year turning down our contract offers.

Enjoy Panathinaikos.

I don't think we offered him one. I'm also not sure why you care so much, given you seemingly don't rate him and prefer Beto.
