2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Nah, if we’d wanted him gone we’d have sold him. Pure profit. I reckon we had offered him a door, and with Dyche gone it was getting wider.

He might as well stay now. Who’s taking an injury prone striker (or more accurately, who’s offering big money to him on a new contract?).. think he’s in a bit of a hole tbh

Im not hater, far from it.

My only point is that nobody really knows what happened during those talks.

I suspect that both parties thought a change would be best, but just my hunch.
Your jumping into a different conversation there mate. The original one was about "no-one at our club wants" the dom.

It's impossible to sell a player if they do not agree to be sold, or do want to go to a particular club that has bid.

Think it's been as clear as day for a long time DCL's intention is to see out his contract, maximize the number of options he has available as a free agent and get the best possible deal for himself elsewhere for what will surely be his last big contract as a 28 year old in his "peak years".

I doubt his injury is a career-ending one, so not much will have changed for his potential future options; plus we will no doubt still keep our offer on the table too, so he's set either way.

Pretty risky ploy seeing his injury record. I doubt his agent or team would have advised this.
I read a lot of people making a lot of assumptions regarding this matter when in truth no one has a clue what has gone on.

It's always a risk and any player can get injured at any time, but maybe from his point of view he might feel he is not injury plagued anymore (played 33 games last year and 22 so far this season, best run in 5 years).

Only the player and club will know for sure, but it's hardly a wild assumption the club want to retain their asset, or that a lad who could have signed a contract at any time but hasn't wants explore what options are available for him at top-end teams or abroad after 9 seasons here, in what will likely be his last chance for a big move/big payday.

So it’s not clear as day then?

He’s not going to get the bumper contract he wanted.

Tbh I’d throw him a pity £50k a week contract. Cannot see who else would take a risk on him, certainly not in the £100k+ a week bracket. Lad just doesn’t stay fit.

Can’t wait until he signs an extension while he’s injured.
This place will be glorious.

I see his agent is trying desperately to get us back to the table...

Auf wiedersehen fair Dominic. Best of luck mate but you played your cards with your Billy big bollocks act over the last year turning down our contract offers.

Enjoy Panathinaikos.

Tbh I wouldn't be surprised to see him sign an extension if his injusry is going to keep him out for a few months. Might suit him as he will have a chance to get himself fit and play himself into a better contract next year than if he tried to sign one somewhere off the back of this injury. And for us it's better as we will need to sign at least one striker already this summer. I doubt we have the ability to sign two in one summer again.
