I mean, I didn't watch us under Dyche and ever think we were spurning chances. I don't think we tried to attack.

I agree given the injuries etc he's probably not good enough. It's a shame we won't see him under a good manager, as I think he'd have already scored even more goals under Moyes. But it is what it is.
 
Just for full clarity, Im delighted for Beto. He took his goals well, it was a shame he spurned the other opportunity to shoot when he had a golden chance.

It's 1 game though. DCL had a great game in his last match, and scored a much harder chance. But it doesn't mean he's done brilliant either. That is the bar for Beto, it's about more than 1 game.

It's nice to have a manager who wants to involve the attackers though. Both Beto and DCL have looked a lot better than they did under Dyche.

Now compare the Prem minutes played in those 1.5 seasons for Beto and DCL, I have a feeling a small detail like that might be relevant and I can probably guess which one has the better goal ratio (I doubt it's the lad who continually goes months without hitting the net).

Not suggesting Beto is a world-beater on the back of one good game, and DCL doesn't pick himself to play, but the only thing more laughable than the club that sticks with a striker who averages maybe 6 goals a season are those who so willingly ignore that we have one of the most inept and goal-shy strikers in the Prem because he "works hard" or "can win a header" or find every excuse under the sun for a guy who has had 2 good seasons in his career, 4 years ago.

Beto was actually twice as good as Dom's last match.

I'm not really interested in minutes. I'm looking at seasons and appearances, and his record is not very good.

DCL has outscored Beto in the two seasons here, and that's a half fit DCL. His allround game is also far superior. There's no conspiracy, he's played because he's miles better, or at least he's performed miles better.

I doubt Beto will ever score 16 in a season like Dom did when he was fully fit, under a competent manager.
