2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Your lad has been badly found out now. Stop making excuses and face the music. He's crap and has been for ages.

Four managers he's looked the same hopeless Bambi on ice he's always been.

I think the fact Spurs would've rather paid £60mill for Solanke (or whatever it was) than a fraction of that on Calvert Lewin says a lot about his levels.

Is his goalless streak going to beat last year's Spadge?

At sixteen now. Remind me how many he went without scoring last year?
He may be sold this window, though Moyes might convince him to stay. If he stays and Moyes can get the team playing football he'll score, no doubt.

Some will look at the below and dismiss it.

Some will look at these sort of stats in the link below and blame Dom and not the manager and how he neutered any semblence of attacking play.

Dom, like the rest of the team will need serious work to get back from the horror show they have been working under but I understand this and am happy to give them, and Moyes a bit more than 94 minutes.

Multiple things can be true at the same time

It's absolutely true that it has been extremely difficult for strikers at Everton in recent years, due to the very defensive way we set up. The set up has not helped Calvert Lewin or any of the attackers at all.

But it's also true that Calvert Lewins goal return has been nowhere near good enough and that he has missed a very high proportion of the chances he's had. His finishing has been very poor for some time now.

It's not an either or argument. Both these things are true.

We need to stop making excuses for this lad.

He’s a 100k a week footballer.
He is mentally weak. That is for sure. I don't deny he had talent and potential. He is just way too inconsistent and has next to no confidence in himself. One thing that always bugged me about him is how reluctant he is to take on defenders in a straight line sprint on goal. He is actually pretty fast- but his instinct is always to turn around and slow the game down. He never bets on himself and I think that is why he is so lacking in goals apart from his finishing. He could have had quite a few more breakaways if he took chances on. He is just too flawed regardless of his contract situation here. He needs a change of scenery where they can get crosses in and get other scorers around him to make up for the droughts.

So what you're saying is....

It's not his fault.

Oh come on. It was clearly a few feet from being central, and far out. Plus the keeper and people in the crowd moved. Thats a clear distraction.
If everyone just stood still he'd be scoring like its 2020 no problem

My double amputee nan would have scored it.

He's missed about fifty of them these past sixteen matches.

But it was the ghost of Dyche who put him off.
