2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Everyone talks nonsense on Beto, but he's never been given a fair chance by this team. DCL has had 19 starts — over 1500 minutes — and has just 3 goals. Two of those came early in the season in losses, and he's almost nothing to do with any of our wins before the Spurs game, when he finally showed something.

Beto has been given one start plus scraps for about 300 minutes, 1/5 the opportunity DCL has had, mostly coming in at the ends of games in moments of managerial desperation with no tactics. There's no comparison. He's a different kind of striker, but he's one who can power through in situations where DCL loses the ball or the nerve to attack. If the team had played to Beto's strengths and given him the chance to prove himself, he would have given everything for Everton, but Dyche may have wasted his time here.
Sorry mate . I dont agree Beto is not a good striker and never will be premier league standard. Nice lad and tries hard but thats it ..

Yesterday in the 2nd half Beto had a very simple task to do. Square the ball for the player to his right for a tap in to make it 2-0. Instead he did what he always does and goes on his own and shoots from an impossible angle.
He isn't good enough for the Premier league

Yeah he’s in the same boat as DCL. Tries hard and seems nice but not premier league standard as his goals the past two seasons shows.
Thats half the issue here comparing DCL and Beto .. For me DCL is much better all round than Beto but as you said DCL goal record plus his absence due to injury is not good enough either . Summing up we just need better than both of them. Sick about Broja as had high hopes but a gamble thats gone wrong !

People are spelling doom and gloom after we won a game- with the striker everyone is whinging about. Let it play out. We may even get somebody in the window. We don't need to write revisionist history about Dom because we didn't win the way we had hoped. Dom is next to no threat because he doesn't actually attack the goal. He pulled a Zlatan out of his butt and it's as if everyone forgot the week prior and the games before that. Both need to be improved upon. Dom has not had a Renaissance. Beto still clearly has A LOT of work to do on his game. Both can be true. I'd put more money on the guy that has barely sniffed consistent time.

Dom has been a threat again since Moyes came in, and he broke his duck. It's terrible timing with no similar back up in style or ability

To be fair to him the player to his right was doucoure.....
So im not gonna slam him for thinking he was the better option

I agree about Dom underachieving. But in terms of the comparison to DCL, I’ll reserve total judgment on Beto after he’s able to consistently string together starts for the remainder of the season like Dom would have.

Beto has always come in after 60’ to a side playing on their heels and in desperation and outmatched up until then. It’s only fair to see what he’s capable of when he has the opportunity to create consistently.

I’m not expecting huge success. But I’m confident he can at least put up 3 or 4 goals with what’s left of the season. Beto only needs to net 2 and be tied for goals with our premier striker. Seems attainable.
