2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

My issue with DCL, similar to other fans issue with him, is his lack of passion or desire to be a top striker. I also don't think he has any love for Everton or our fans. Beto may not be perfect, but he still shows passion and has a bond with our fans. Vaughan, Yakubu, Anichebe, Richarlison and Naismith all showed more passion for than DCL ever does. He missed 3 sitters against Villa this season, which debunks lack of service nonsense. When Broja came on at Arsenal, he showed genuine desire that you just don't get with DCL. It will be sad if he leaves in a free, hopefully we have a replacement lined up.
My issue with DCL is his complete lack of finishing ability, couldn't care less about anything else. He rarely scores with his feet. Many of his goals he just bundles in from inside the 6 yard box. For how well he controls headers in the build up, he routinely misses quality chances to head in goals. I just think there is something with him mentally where despite his obvious other footballing talents, he just can't finish when he has those golden chances.

Which is what you can't have with a striker

I will just move my support to our next number 9.

Everton number 9s are everything to me.
Dixie Deans Statue should be moved outside BMD - the 60 goal season he cored another 40 in Cup & international league games, making it 100 goals - that historic season he only played 37 league games as other internation games kicked off the same time as Everton's & he missed those league games - as they kicked off on league days ....to leave his statue is disgraceful IMO - just reading one of his many autobiographies now ....

If we had a squad with depth, I'd see him very much as a bench option and worth another contract.

Where he is in his career, he is not going to move upwards and start regularly.

There are goals in him but he has gone backwards and needs to prove himself. Like the squad as a whole under Dyche, I think he is better than what we've seen.

I think we are as good as it gets for him unless he wants to go to a farmers league and bang in goals. If he was past 30 the MLS would be perfect for him.

dont mind the lad have got moneys worth form him same wont get anything for him leaving but can be replaced has three problems not enough goals, wages far to high and wel his fitness record.
