2017/18 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Lewen is exactly the issue with the team. This time last season he was in the reserves ffs and now he is our wide player ahead of actual wide players.

The thing is, he is exactly what he is, a 19 year old striker at the start of their career and nowhere near the level of being first choice striker in the premier league. He has some talent , he can score goals but the minute you make him first choice , the lad hasn't got a hope in he'll of living up to those expectations right now. Stick him in a position he is not strong in and all of a sudden a decent potential young striker looks terrible. His talents are holding the ball up, winning headers and scoring. So how can you exoect to see him do that when his job is to cross the ball and support the invisible striker ?

But he wasn't though was he Ian.

And ultimately, Rooney scored the goal that got us the point. You can try and be edgy and controversial about it, but those are the face.
He got us up the pitch, he's not perfect but he's improving, rightly or wrongly Rooney was played centre forward, his ill discipline in constantly dropping deep made is too compact going forward and never allowed us to create momentum.

DCL had more chances than Rooney and won the penalty, Rooney was about to be hooked again with Mirallas replacing him at 0-0 meaning DCL would've taken Rooneys place up front.

Got us up the pitch. Ian, we didn't get up the pitch. That's garbage.

DCL "won" the penalty. Give me a break. An absolute brainmelt from their defender elbowing him is hardly earning it like a winger getting tripped in the box. Would you have given Wayne credit for "winning " a penalty in the other match after he was smashed in the chops, blood everywhere? Would you balls.

DCL had more chances. That's great. He only needs about 10 more a game to score, or just to play against Sunderland or something.

Why do you hate Wayne, Ian?

Yeah but he's just been stuck up front or wing or wing back in an underperforming team

Yeah, that's definitely why when he has headers in front of goal or chances he can't score them, he's traumatised by having to play the remainder of the game on the wing.

Why do you hate Dominic?

For as much as he misses chances - not all as straightforward as some weapons on here claim - it's just as detrimental to us winning a game as Rooney playing up front but hovering around the center circle.

He was genuinely terrible today at everything but i don't put the blame on him for it.

Last time he played that badly he was also thrown on the left wing and looked just as much like Bambi as he did today.

His finishing worries me still il admit that and i still stick to he should have been sent out on loan otherwise we had a terrible window, that's come true but DCL has improved massively in the last 6 months. I just worry that growth will slow with more frustration at missed chances that he has to score at this level and poor performances in positions he shouldn't be near because of a clueless manager.

I dont hate him. As explained, he tries, well done him, but he's nowhere near good enough.

He works hard I'll give him that, other than that he's average at best

Explained perfectly.

He did get us up the pitch when we got up the pitch and without that brain melt Rooney doesn't score, he didn't get in a position to fashion himself one chance today.

I don't hate Rooney, but I never wanted him, but it was something I got caught up in on the first few weeks, but he's getting worse by the game after being very good V Stoke.

He's going to play, so it has to be number 10.
