DCL didn't fare too well in this episode. Looked like a giraffe on ice lol

This video encapsulates why RK gave him so many chances. He shows his positive outgoing character.
He also shows how his finishing is way below Prem level. He's improved a lot since last season and works hard on the pitch but he's nowhere near good enough yet imo.
His finishing is so poor I'm not convinced he'll ever get there but hope he proves he can.

Fast, good header, disciplined, hard working. Currently a crap finisher. Still very much work-in-progress but loads
of promise. Thank God Koeman failed in unloading Niasse.

Martinez did not satisfy the job's minimum requirements but he brought in Lukaku and Del Boy and also Niasse - who is turning
into this season's saviour - what did RK do? Unload Del, extend Miralles, buy 5 no. 10's and not one no. 9..

Rather than separately repeat everything you've just said, instead I'll just say "I wholeheartedly agree mate".

Sick of hearing about his age. It’s irrelevant. If you are playing up front for Everton then you have to bring a certain performance level and goal threat.
A level that is beyond him at present.
Yes he is developing, but that development needs to be in the U23’s or on loan. Sign a striker in Jan and then try him again in the first team when he’s stronger, sharper, and scoring goals. (If he ever gets to that point).

..don’t think he’s ever been a ‘street footballer’, that’s where natural skills like finishing and deftness are honed. He’s got good back to goal technique, is decent in the air and will run all day for the cause. He’s a useful lad to have but he’s not yet in that top category of forwards who make things happen.

If he's to be a top striker he's going to have to go down the Shearer route: lots and lots and lots of work on the training ground. Which is absolutely fine.

Absolute load of crap. Don't think I've read anything so ridiculous on this site. A players age is irrelevant to how good he is?lol

I agree he's not ready to be our main striker. Far from it. But the simple truth is that we haven't got anyone better at the moment and that isn't the lads fault. Same as Kenny at right back. Until we can bring somebody better in to replace them in the firing line they need our support.

Like Kenny, DCL has improved with games and has actually been one of our better performers this season, and similarly he has not shirked responsibility like most of our senior players have. Hopefully we'll bring somebody in during the next window to lead the line and score the goals, and then DCL can go back to a support role to gain experience, a role he should have had from the start this season if the management had done their job correctly in the summer. Hopefully he'll learn to have more composure in front of goal otherwise he won't become a top player, but there's loads of top strikers who didn't have that in their armoury at 20.

I'm absolutely sick of some fans who seem intent on blaming our crop of young players for the predicament we're in at the moment.
