He's trash, let's be honest. If he was playing like this for Newcastle we'd all be laughing and saying if that's the best they've got then they're going down.

Being tasked to do the impossible IMO. Was bullied by VVD.

Asked to hold up play from lumps instead of running onto angled passes.

Rooney almost opened him up with a required inch perfect pass through the middle. Just a touch heavy.

He will need to bulk up to be a lump and hold up type player.

A decent young lad who should be on loan in the league below, instead he's leading the line in our biggest game of the season. Just about sums this club up.

He's young and acting as a lone striker with crap balls coming to him. You could stick Owen in his prime at 18 and he'd look the same as DCL in the Everton team, you can't expect someone like him to be a holding striker, he should be turning and running off the last man but those aren't the balls he is getting.
Because he wasn't making those runs

He’s not trash. He’s a 20 year old being asked to replace a 90M striker, it’s hardly his fault. Critism of his is majorly unfair.

I think he’d be the first to admit that he didn’t expect to get the minutes he has this season.

There’s a very good player in there, he just needs a loan deal to a championship club to help develop.

Let’s not forget he’s playing in a very poor team.

In what way? o_O

I feel a bit sorry for the lad but he doesn't seem to have the ruthlessness required of a succesful PL striker.
Exactly this. Last night he was in for two magnificent crosses in the second half that any hungry, strong, forceful centre forward would have made sure he got on the end of and scored. Christ, for the first one he only had to outjump their 5'6" left back, who had the added disadvantage of facing his own goal. The second one he got nearly a full head on but still knocked it wide from inside the 6 yard box. He has some strong facets to his play but a 20 goal a year man he'll never be.

How can you say a lad who has come from League One to be a regular starter in the PL isn't 'hungry'??

The lad has a lot of work still to do but he is 20 YEARS OLD

He has talent. He has a lot of good qualities and he works extremely hard. He needs to improve his finishing but that will come. Now we've got a striker he can either start playing a lesser role which will be good in a way as the pressure will be off, or he can start playing with some support up top.
