2017/18 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

How can you say a lad who has come from League One to be a regular starter in the PL isn't 'hungry'??

The lad has a lot of work still to do but he is 20 YEARS OLD

He has talent. He has a lot of good qualities and he works extremely hard. He needs to improve his finishing but that will come. Now we've got a striker he can either start playing a lesser role which will be good in a way as the pressure will be off, or he can start playing with some support up top.
'Hungry' was being used in the sense of scoring goals not in terms of ambition or endeavour.

Some of the utterly ridiculous dross that a few fans were aiming towards Calvert-Lewin last night was pathetic - it's as if they wish him to fail.

Doesn't matter what he is, he isn't good enough to be starting games for us and would benefit with a loan move.

Harry Kane had one, Lukaku had more than one, etc. Why should he be any different?

He does need a loan, I've always said it.

But we're not in any position to do so. If we were, he'd be getting little game time and developing slower.

Because they were loaned from clubs who had more than Oumar Niasse and a player none of our fans had heard of until two weeks ago up top, pal.

And, they weren't their club's second-highest scorer at the time either.

His finishing might improve. I think it’s important that we stop assuming players will just naturally improve because it’s not always the case. Victor anichebes finishing is no better now than it was when I first saw him 12 years ago for example.

You're right. This could easily be Calvert-Lewin's peak right now. We've no idea the path his career will take. It's definitely not like looking at a young Wayne Rooney and instantly knowing he will reach the top.

Oh yeh, because we're definitely in a position to be loaning out our second-highest scorer this season?

FFS lads

2nd highest scorer....are you sure?
I mean as our main striker for the majority of the season isn't Rooney, Naisse ahead of him and Siggy equal? Doesn't bode well for our main striker.

A loan will do him the world of good.

He has been involved in more Everton goals this season than any other player and that's exlcuding penalties he's won.

He'll only get better and we need him imo

As the main striker that should be a given. When we need him to pull something out the bag he is not that player. Loan for me as he hasn't shown me enough to say he is a good striker. He has had a good run of games to show it but hasn't.

I think he's done well considering we create absolutely nothing outside of him.
