1 Goal every 227 minutes this season which is 1 in 2.5 games, he is abit more prolific then we think.
He had a barren run at the begining of the season but you could put alot of that down to what has happened this season.

Rashord 1 Goal every 129 minutes, 1 in 1.4 games
Solanke 0 goals in 391 minutes 4.3 games without scoring
Abraham 1 Goal every 279 minutes 1 in 3.1 games

He is about par compared to young english strikers his age

I'm still not convinced by him, but he's young and has improved a lot. He doesn't strike me as a natural goal scorer and can see him perhaps developing into a Danny Welbeck style player at best to be fair. He's shown nothing to me that suggests he'll be the next Harry Kane. That being said Kane was the same age as DCL in the 2013-14 season. He scored 4 in 19 apps across all competition to bring his pro career total to 21 (16 of which were in lower leagues). DCL has 8 in 37 this year and 23 goals total although 6 were in non-league football.

He's been forced to play too much this year. On the plus side he's gained experience. On the down side he's had crap service and few runners supporting his hold up play. If we weren't so gash at getting players around him and moving the ball in the final third he'd have scored more. Would like to see him get a run now that we have Walcott and Coleman to help him out....and it would be nice if we could consistently play Iceland as a number 10.

He seems much better suited to a bench role atm. DCL struggles with the physicality a bit, but he improves us drastically when the other team tires out. If he manages to get a little stronger in the summer, I could see him handling full 90's much better.

Without being able to see tosun in a run of games I don't understand why people don't consider him our best option. If Niasse is better in your estimation then ok but I think you are bending over backwards to give him no credit not to mention his potential ability is imo very high.
I don't see how criticizing a player for what is a weakness in his game is bending over backwards to give him no credit. I've also not once mentioned Tosun here. Nor Niasse. DCL has done his best. He's not got a good shot on him. Needs work. The fact that we can't criticize young players is ridiculous. All our strikers are flawed.

You can probably forget the two yards bit as well.

Everything I'd want a striker to be able to do, he can do. He just doesn't do it consistently. Given his age, that's not surprising.
That's fine for you. For me, I'd like if he was able to hit a ball better, and finish the chances he get's more consistently. He's not close to Niasse in terms of finishing ability, and that's evident in his output. And in no way do I want Niasse as a primary striker here.

We give him and other strikers very little support. His frame and experience doesn't help him at the moment. So not entirely his fault mainly how we set up is that frustrates our forwards.

You can criticize anyone. I'm not telling you what to post.

You bent over backwards for sure saying his goal was a two yard tap in so I'd say that was more than just criticizing but whatever.

All players have flaws not just our strikers. Maybe I missed your entire point but I included the others to say at this point he was our best option which you insinuated otherwise. Apologies if that was not your intent but it was very unclear if it's not.

...goal scoring is a state of mind. Goalscorers play on the front foot looking to get on the end of things, sniffing out chances, getting in front of defenders when crosses come in. DCL doesn’t have that goalscoring mindset. He plays to lead the line, run the channels and give 100% effort.
