Yeah, seen dcl curling them in from 30 yards against arsenal. The lad can’t even strike the ball cleanly. Then you get people going on about service..... he’s not good enough.

Why you comparing him to the best player this country has produced this century? Just cause he's not going to break all the records Rooney has doesn't mean he's not going to have a successul top flight career. He's scored a lot more than that Solanke who is capped somehow and has been hyped up beyond belief.

He's young and plays for Everton, therefore must be the next Rooney.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that at all.

But I don't get the stick DCL gets and has got since he first came in.

He's a very good youngster who came from having played any hardly League One games and has been thrown in as our lead striker this season due to our dreadful inability to replace Lukaku.

There's clear areas he needs to improve but he's quick, strong and has a really good touch. It doesn't help any of our forward players that we usually play one up top on their own.

I don't think he'll ever be a 20 goal per-season striker, but he has eight goals and six assists in all comps this season.

Bloody hell, it's not bad is it?

Because the poster in question is evidently dim (in regards to the togger).

Initially, it was another poster who made the comparison. Though, I believe they were being ironic.
I base my opinion on watching players and from what i’ve seen he ain’t going to cut the mustard. You disagree, fair enough.

Was harsh pal, I apologise for that.

But I don't understand what Calvert-Lewin has done so wrong in games for you to say he's awful/not good enough for this side.

The argument is he doesn't score/create goals - well he's our third top-scorer and one of our leading assisters.

He has pretty much everything to his game at the moment except perhaps that natural instinct and finishing prowess that someone like Lukaku or Kane has. But he's 21.

If he could get better with his goalscoring he could turn out a good player. Harry Kane didn't look anything special in his first few years with Spurs, getting sent out on loan all over the place. I think a loan would be best for him, but also doubt he'll be sent out.

Those are pretty big things to be missing when you're a striker though, no? And if they're 'natural' it doesn't really matter how old he is does it, because you've either got natural talent or you haven't.

For me personally, he looks like he's short of a few of the skills needed to be top drawer. I agree that he doesn't appear to have that natural goalscoring instinct in terms of either movement or finishing, but if you look at the goals he's scored, too many of them are just bog standard finishes for my liking. I'm yet to see him score that goal that makes you think he's really got something - cutting inside and curling one in the top corner or taking it down on his chest and hitting a half volley from 20 yards. If you only score goals from inside the box, you need to be able to score a lot of them, and I'm yet to be convinced that he can.
