haha. As opposed to the other 9 outfield players who really shone. We may as well of been playing with 10 men on Satuday, he was completely anonymous.

Yeah. Got a feeling it was Villas Boas who took over so maybe we missed a bullet there.Shame about McEachran. If Ancelotti had stayed at Chelsea it could've been very different for him. He's exactly the type of player England sorely need right now.
I know you're not, i'm just saying that the example you're using is a poor one, because while I can't name players that were loaned to the Championship by Chelsea and came back to get in their side, I can't name ones who were loaned to the PL and made a success of it with them either.Mate, I'm not necessarily talking about making the mark at Chelsea, I'm talking about making a career at the top level in football. The names you quote actually prove the point I'm making tbh. Lukaku, De Bruyne, Ake, Hazard and probably anther half dozen at least if I look into it, all went on loan to a good quality premier division. They may have all been subsequently sold, but every one of them is still playing at the top level. Look at Andreas Christensen too. Following a 2 year loan in the Bundesliga he's been arguably Chelsea's best defender this season and he's what, just 22.
Conversely look at Josh McEachran. For his age he was probably the brightest prospect of the lot possibly, excluding Lukaku. He had a number of starts for Chelsea from the age of 17 and was generally regarded at the time as the next big thing in English football. There came a change of manager and at 18 he was sent on loan to Swansea for the second half of the 2011/12 season. He was up against Sigurdsson for game time and didn't play as much as he wanted, but by that stage had already enjoyed 20+ games at the top level. Following season he went on loan to Middlesbrough down in the championship where he performed well overall and was a regular in the U21 side as a 19 yo. But he didn't develop at Middlesbrough. He was decent at that standard but didn't step up as you would have expected, despite playing over 30 games. However, I do believe that had he gone back into the Chelsea squad, or gone on loan to a top league, then things could have still worked out for him. But 2 more championship level loans followed and he's still playing there now.
In my opinion, that is because he wasn't being challenged and also because he was playing against and alongside mediocre quality players week in week out. In my opinion that will be what happens if we send DCL to the championship, or Davies, Holgate, Lookman, Vlasic, Sandro, Klaassen and Kenny for that matter (like so many on here have been suggesting). Either send them out on loan to top divisions, or keep them here so we can control their development ourselves. Or just simply sell them if we don't think they will make it.
I'm not saying that all loans to championship/lower leagues are not beneficial. Most young players need spells out to build them up and get them used to competitive football.I know you're not, i'm just saying that the example you're using is a poor one, because while I can't name players that were loaned to the Championship by Chelsea and came back to get in their side, I can't name ones who were loaned to the PL and made a success of it with them either.
To suggest that anyone who steps down a level will inevitably get worse due to not being challenged and playing alongside inferior players is demonstrably false. There are examples on both sides, which is all i'm getting at. Of course some players have benefited from a loan to another PL club, but to suggest that nobody has benefited from a loan - or permanent move/relegation which amounts to the same thing - to the Championship at the age of 21 is clearly incorrect, that's literally the only point i'm making here.

That U17s group from last year is a bit special. Not sure what happened in the euro final against Spain, probably started celebrating a bit early. At least they had the chance for revenge in the worlds and took it with both hands. His brother is going to be even better.
No I understand the point you're making, I just don't really agree.I'm not saying that all loans to championship/lower leagues are not beneficial. Most young players need spells out to build them up and get them used to competitive football.
What I am saying is that players like DCL and Davies and Kenny, who now have significant premier game time under their belt, would not benefit from such a move. It would be a backward step in their development and they would stand still. I'm not saying that they will become worse players. I'm saying they will not develop to their full potential.
But it's just my opinion hey.
