2017/18 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

He's done nothing of note since he broke into the team.

Hasn't got one attribute to his game that makes me feel he deserves a place in the side over others.

From watching U23's and international tournament he has lots of good attributes; he's stronger than he looks, holds the ball up well, decent in the air, makes lots of intelligent runs, hard working and seems to take on everything he's asked to do.

His finishing definitely isn't up to scratch but why does he have to be a prolific forward? Target men - which I think he'll become - rarely are. Big Dunc and Kevin Davies etc. were hardly golden boot nominees but were very effective team players.

I

I'd say he's not ready for CF yet (maybe in Europa/ League cup, but not EPL). Needs to bulk up. Stick him on the left where he offers more physically presence than Mirallas. Gives an option to knock high balls, which he will compete for.
He needs loaning out to the Championship.

He cant be getting game time here with all those flaws.

Koeman has a blind spot on this player...just as he has one on Stekelenburg.

If we sign Sigurdsson & a CF, then I imagine he will go out on loan. Hopefully to a championship side, where he'll be 1st choice CF.

Koeman's "blind spot" is your opinion. I would disagree.

He should be out on loan playing Championship football week in week out.

He's not yet good enough to be a option for us, not even close.

I couldn't tell you where this lad is best played. What position is he supposed to be a specialist at? I haven't got a clue about that.
It's a strange one. I've literally no idea what his actual position is.

There is zero evidence of the following....

Doesn't take defenders on
Doesn't have quick feet
Doesn't have any technical ability
Doesn't appear to have any pace
Isn't a slotter
No movement to his game
No aerial threat
No range of passing

I could go on. You look at other youngsters that play in the attacking third, that have broken into the 1st team and you could highlight two or three of the above. You can see why they're there.

Calvert Lewin doesn't deserve to be anywhere near that 1st team, let alone playing.

You must be watching a different fella.

if he is our backup to sandro next season we are goosed, certainly hasn't showed he's anywhere near good enough to be starting games at the top level ( yet )
If we go into this season with him as a back up to Sandro, you can kiss goodbye to any slight chance we have to challenge.

Woeful

i agree, he might see something in training and he played well in the euros. Needs to strengthen up championship would be ideal he is only young. We need to sign another striker first though.

Interested to see how the lad does this year. I'll be honest and say I can't remember ever being quite so underwhelmed by a young attacking player breaking through to the first team, but to counter that the only young players I can recall being trusted as much as he seemingly is by management were Rooney and Jeffers. Koeman and the coaches obviously see a real player in there so I'm intrigued to see whether their faith is justified over the next couple of months.
