I would keep playing him at 9 if we get no replacement for Lukaku. DCL looks like he has the mentality for it, which is the main discriminator once they get to this level. I think he'd take the step up if he got a run in there.

Agree totally. Bring in another more experienced striker to lead the line fine, but if for whatever reason that doesn't materialise, persevere with DCL up top.

He brings something that we don't have in the squad, a target man who leads the line well. He'll no doubt get better the more games he plays and the more experience he gains, the boy is clearly a talent. Thought he was very very good second half, strong skilful and brought others in to play.

He starts as the #9 for me on Thursday.

Actually that's a good comparison have similar build and similar style of play not the biggest of players but difficult to play against, if DCL turns out half the play Sharp did he'll have done well.

Not brilliant like, but held his own against a physical Stoke defence which some thought he'd be totally ineffective against.

I suppose it's vaguely possible that professional coaching staff are professionals for a reason and see a talent that's worth persevering with, whereas us amateurs don't always look beyond the surface ?

Oh, we still need a new striker btw.

I don't get the vitriol thrown at DCL. He looks a good prospect to me. Clearly playing him at right wing back was a mistake but in the forward positions he looks decent. He makes dodgy decisions sometimes but he's a young lad and is very likely to improve imo.

Changed my opinion of him today.

Woeful first half. Out of position.

Second half. He was excellent. Allowed others to play and created problems.


Needs to learn to shoot instantly not mess around.

Think he's going to be a good player for us.
