Let's be honest. .. and I don't wanna be putting a downer on things but..... we got battered by 10 men for the majority of the game. .. DCL played very well but when we cleared our lines the ball just coming back at us time and again. He will learn in time how to hold the ball up more effectively but we do have to be realistic.

That's probably attributed to the fact that we hoofed the ball forward at every opportunity! It was frustrating to see especially against 10 men. DCL did lose the ball on the odd occasion but he was often surrounded by 2 or 3 City players.

I saw it as a breakthrough game for the young lad and fully expect him to kick on now.

He shows a lot of promise and could be a seriously top CF one day. He's a valuable squad player even now, but if
we want to compete at the very top right now we probably need an established striker straight away.

I don't know if there are any around for sale, but something might come up and in the meantime I expect DCL,
Rooney and Ramirez - when he's fit and had a few games under his belt - to do the job between them fairly well.

You were wrong about Lukaku as well.

Maybe leave the strikers scouting to people who've got a clue ;)

One half decent game from Calvert-Lewin proves nothing.

...... I'm also still concerned about booting it up to him at every opportunity. Evidence we saw YET again at city.

4 years of being wrong about Lukaku proves everything.

Wrong about Lukaku?

So I'm wrong his control of a football is abysmal, his movement off the ball is U12's at best, his awareness is painful to watch?

His goal scoring record doesn't magically erase these flaws in his game. Excellent finisher of a football yes and nobody could argue against that. But the above points ( there is more btw, I just can't be arsed ) I'm not wrong about.

He has shown enough to suggest that he could be a very good striker in a few years.

At the present he should be an option from the bench and play in the EFL cup games

Ok fair comments. But lets be honest City are a very good side even with 10 men. I'd say we are a good team looking to get better. But still a long way to go to consistently match up to City at the monent. They played very well even with 10 men.

His movement off the ball is plenty good. His first touch could be better. But his pace, his speed, his power, he's a complete beat of a CF that is going to score a ton of goals at Man U like he did for us.
