Partisanship is in our DNA.Two legs good, four legs bad.
Partisanship is in our DNA.
But really, we're at a point where it's become a sport. All you have to do is see the number of people that are 'family values republicans' that have defended Trump, or the number of economic liberals defending Hillary.
The both suck, for pretty everyone. Neither of them is anywhere near an ideal candidate. But nobody even cares - it's about who's winning dammit.
All you have to do is look at the obstructionism of the past 6 years...I do tend to believe the Democratic party compromises more - largely because a good chunk of their base is more in line with a Sanders socialist than someone like Clinton...so wouldn't Clinton be that middle you're talking about?
The right wing has been hijacked by the loudest and most boorish. This has led to most people opposed to the right wing turning them into strawmen entirely, because the reasonable ones have been quiet for a long time (wouldn't you be if you were associated with that mess?). Which has created a completely toxic environment.
And who benefits? The status quo. Wall Street and corporations.
You lot really need a third party alternative. But if one sprouts the 2 main players would probably team up to stamp out such a movement.Partisanship is in our DNA.

Yes we do. Desperately. We need to get people mobilized and begin to split the two monoliths into something that actually represents the public at large. You lot really need a third party alternative. But if one sprouts the 2 main players would probably team up to stamp out such a movement.
It's doable look at UKIP now compared to 20, even 10 years ago. I'm not saying they are what's right for America but there has to be another way.Yes we do. Desperately. We need to get people mobilized and begin to split the two monoliths into something that actually represents the public at large.

So if I went to a halal or kosher bakery and demanded a cake with a pig drawn on it?Their beliefs need to evolve.

Same mistake all the 3rd parties make - they put up a candidate for president, but run nothing down ballot. You would think a socially liberal, fiscally conservative party would do well. The Libertarian just can't seem to really gain ground.
And if they refused on religious grounds? Would there be a progressive uproar? Do you think they need to evolve their beliefs?I suppose...as long as it was still kosher/halal.

You aren't going to win the highest office your first time out. Start in the lower leagues.

My economics have already evolved once. I was on the right side of that equation when I was younger (and poor, stupidly). I don't think they'll change that much again, but who knows - I can be swayed by empirical evidence.I could see myself at some point in my life evolving my fiscal ideals. I hope that my social ideals always fall on the side of liberal.
