Donald Trump for President Thread

I get the impression Romney (in preparing for that anti-Trump speech) looked at, studied and then copied all the best arguments that Blair could come up with when he so successfully managed to prevent Jeremy Corbyn being elected as leader of the Labour Party by a landslide. I have only seen dribs and drabs of it but even I, on a train heading to Marylebone, felt a strong urge to go out and vote Donald thanks to watching it.

You seem to be set in your ways though as am I for the most part so I guess we'll leave it at that or whatever response you wanna give.

Maybe I am :)

I respect your opinion, it's far more thought out than that of most who don't approve of Obama. I get that you're jaded with politicians and I agree to a point. I just get a bit fed up with the people who would hate Obama even if he cured cancer. The main thing I give Obama credit for is getting anything done in the face of such obstructionist politics (I realize he's partly responsible for that). I think history will remember him as a good president.

FWIW, I think citizens united is the biggest danger to American politics and even the Republic it's self. This makes the SCOTUS pick huge and there fore the presidential election. I don't see Sanders (who got my primary vote) getting nominated, so it's down to HRC and I'm not comfortable with her ability to make an honest pick.

As for Trump, I think he's mentally unstable and anyone who votes/supports him needs to take a lie down and that's as polite as I can put it.

Sorry, a bit off the Obama discussion there.

Obama's problem is that his main achievements are either anathema to Republicans (the ACA), or Republicans pretend that they are anathema (that Iran deal, which despite the best efforts of the Israeli and Saudi lobbies in Congress, did not get torn up largely because they all recognize that it makes more sense than what Bibi / Blair / McCain have been urging).

Here the League Table. Doing better than Roberto at the moment wouldn't you say? Top half.

Brookings, eh? 'sake. Can't even spell George.

I'll take Coolidge over Carter any day. The arc of history will bend toward a fair, considered judgment of Barack Obama.

Meanwhile, we have more important issues.

99.9% of British politicians are utter wronguns who I would never trust ever but America takes it to the next level in terms of being run by self obsessed power hungry people without an ounce of humanity in their bodies, it really is tragic that these people have control of the most powerful nation on earth and the effects that has on the rest of the world makes it hard not to care. So many missed opportunities to benefit the masses in favour of politics that benefit the few. It makes me sad.

He's below Regan. Nuff said. Do you really feel the sources used for the ratings should be trusted? PolySc dumb dumbs already buy into the whole system hook line and sinker not to mention it's a flippant non quantitative measure. People's "feelings" about history when a majority of them only saw at most 1/6 of the list with a developed brain.

I have to say I have not paid much attention to the primaries as I thought Trump was a one day wonder and who would be found out. Unfortunately it appears some elements of the American electorate wish to have their country run like a business. This combined with no real opposition of any note would appear to allow Trump an almost clear run at the Republican nomination.
I watched him after Tuesday's results and his newly found conciliatory tone, the born again unified, I just wonder if his attempt to appear presidential will make him less attractive to those who now support him.

Is he saying Mittens would have given Trump fellatio? Now there's an image for us all to endure :hayee:

Trump's unspoken point being that he was far too classy to ask for one, it's not what winners do. However, if he HAD...

Verbal jiu-jitsu of a high order. Like throwing a cow into a lake filled with piranhas. Make the rubble dance.

(sigh)

Nothing defines the US more than the fact that they sent men to the Moon, and then stopped doing it because the accountants got involved.
