Putin and Trump share a kiss in Lithuania
Artist Mindaugas Bonanu creates a mural of the greatest, and best, power couple, President Vladimir Putin and businessman Donald Trump
Donald Trump, reality television star, business mogul, and leader of the Republican Party, doesn’t like many people. He’s spent most of his time on the political trail calling opponents ‘losers’ or uttering racist rhetoric.
However, one man has worked his way into the presumptive GOP presidential nominee’s heart: Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to theWall Street Journal, Trump has described Putin as ‘very bright’ and a ‘strong leader.’
Artist Mindaugas Bonanu knows true love when he sees it. To honor this budding romance, he painted a mural of Putin and Trump sharing a passionate smooch.
The art is located in Vilnius, Lithuania, on the storefront of a barbecue establishment called Keule Ruke. An Instragram photo of Bonanu and Dominykas Čečkauskas, owner of the restaurant, has hit the viral zone.
‘They both have an ego that is too big, and it is funny that they get along well,’ Čečkauskas said in an interview with the Baltic News Service . ‘We are in a sort of a Cold War again, and America may get a president who will want to be friends with Russia.’
Our art history readers will recognize Bonanu’s Putin/Trump make out session is a homage to a 1990 mural painted on the Berlin Wall. Russian artist Dmitri Vrubel depicted a friendly kiss between former communist leaders Leonid Brezhnev and Erich Honecker. Vrubel’s mural, based on an actual kiss from 1979, was called My God, Help Me to Survive This Deadly Love.
By the way: we’re sorry for those who require therapy after looking at the Putin/Trump lip lock. At least Bonanu didn’t paint The Donald being a bossy bottom.
