Donald Trump for President Thread

Fair enough. I should be clear that I'm not advocating the assassination of anyone, especially the POTUS, but seems like the conditions are ripe for such an event: unpopular politicians; social turmoil; crazy people with guns. It really doesn't even take all these ingredients to bake this cake.
Yup. Remember hearing somewhere that that the number of threats involving Trump was really high

sounds sensible to me, beats jumping into everyone elses problems like the west did in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria...

American isolationalism contributed directly to WWII.

If America suddenly withdraws from the world then this will lead to instability and war.

Yes NATO members should pay their way and contribute meaningfully in terms of defence spending.

Hopefully the threat will ensure this happens.

Doesn't mean I want to see President Trump.

It was only a few months ago Russian bombers were launching simulated bombing attacks on Sweden.

(Sweden is considering joining NATO as a result).

We've two poor choices, that's for sure. I'll vote for Hillary to try to keep Trump out of office - plenty of things America can do better, obviously, but putting a fascist like Trump in office would be the worst choice we can make. From foreign policy to our domestic economy and social policies, Trump's approaches and lack of understanding / deep thought will create larger, longer-term problems than anything Hillary could mess up.

I think the most important issue facing this country in this election is who gets appointed to the Supreme Court. It's a lifetime appointment and will have much more impact on the nation than either of these two candidates in the long term.

Trump was being totally shortsighted, yes, NATO allies should not completely rely on the US to come to their rescue and should play their part, however, NATO has allowed for a prolonged period of peace which has allowed for relative stabilisation in Europe and North America.

Trump only thinks in terms of money, and that's extremely dangerous, not just for the United States but for the entire world.

Yeah...the joke is going to not only be on us...it will have global impact.

Cut from the same cloth the Leave camp and the Trump camp.

The similarities between the campaigns are uncanny.

Leaders - Already well known public figures with let's say controversial views on race issues
Slogans - Make America Great Again vs Take Our Country Back
Main campaign policies - Bang on about immigration and disregard the economic effects of trade isolationism
Target voters - Middle America and Middle England. Not the large city demographics of young, mixed voters who can't be relied upon to vote but the rural demographics of older, whiter people who still make up a large percentage of the population and can also be relied upon to vote.

If people don't see the parallels between the two campaigns, they are lying to themselves.

Ideologically the Leave campaign is nearly identical to the Trump campaign. If @peteblue had been born on this side of the pond, he would be a card carrying member of the NRA. Ideologically the two camps align.

Honestly a bit surprised there hasn't been more serious attempts on Obama.

Im sorry, I think Trump would be an absolute [Poor language removed]-show of a president but I cannot, in good conscience, vote for Hillary.

They are both going to absolutely feck the middle class. I mean massively. People keep on saying 'well she is the lesser of two evils!', well, fine, you assholes should have been pushing someone who wasn't the 2nd most despised candidate of all time. That's right, Hillary is the SECOND most despised, only behind Trump...

Kind of like Begovic only being the 2nd worst keeper behind Howard but nobody seems to notice...

So I assume you won't be voting?

Again, regardless of how you feel about Hillary, or Trump for that matter, the next president is going to appoint the next member of the Supreme Court which will have much more effect on the country long after either of them are out of office.

Well, there's always third party candidates like Jill Stein and Gary Johnson.

The 'bought and paid for' political class of USA has let a very good country down very badly

Trump is seen as an anti-politician

Obama was seen in similar light.

I consider Obama a venal shill to the upper caste that run America...and I suggest Trump will be as well.

Hilary definitely is

Disagree.

Supreme Court is very important but whoever gets elected has a huge say in decisions about a host of issues that also have long lasting effects like healthcare, immigration, foreign policy and social policy. Not everything can, or should, be legislated through that court.
