Donald Trump for President Thread

The 'bought and paid for' political class of USA has let a very good country down very badly

Trump is seen as an anti-politician

Obama was seen in similar light.

I consider Obama a venal shill to the upper caste that run America...and I suggest Trump will be as well.

Hilary definitely is
What's a shill ?

Disagree.

Supreme Court is very important but whoever gets elected has a huge say in decisions about a host of issues that also have long lasting effects like healthcare, immigration, foreign policy and social policy. Not everything can, or should, be legislated through that court.

I think we are in agreement in some ways. In the short term, whoever is elected will set in motion all sorts of policies which could be good or bad for the country however you happen to believe the country should be headed. Which could change in 4 years time to another president with a different agenda and different ideology.

The Supreme Court nomination is a lifetime decision for the individual chosen which will span decades and several presidents. Getting that wrong could mean decades of problems. For me it's the most important thing this new president will do without knowing the future. Factually it will be a decision that will (unless untimely death is involved) be involved in shaping our country long after this president is out of office.

Can see where you come from but how the court votes in 15 years seems a bit remote if this guy gets the codes to nuclear weapons and a tense geopolitical situation arises...

I definitely understand that...and agree.

Even more scary if he wins, is that we'd have a Republican House, Senate, Supreme Court, and President. He'd be able to get virtually anything he wanted to do, done. The frustrating thing about the Conservative agenda is their pining for the better days of yore. Unless you were white, male, Christian, and straight, the better days of yore were shoite.

Lol. Might as well just vote for Mickey Mouse.

Not exactly. Even though no 3rd party candidate has a shot, it's still an opportunity to express displeasure with the candidates and ideologies have been offered. Hopefully, this could pave the way for 3rd party candidates having success in future elections. Both GOP and Democratic elite benefit massively from being able to claim "there's no alternative."

At a minimum, it's better than not voting at all.

Fundamentally you are correct. In practice though it's simply a waste of time and energy.

No third party candidate has emerged this election to 'shake things up'. Really, Trump could be viewed as that guy in the bigger scheme. He's the 'non politician'.

There are no third party candidates even worth looking at as there were in previous elections like Nader, Perot, and Anderson.

Agree, especially if you like in a state that isn't close. And the down ticket votes are important even if you left the top of the ticket blank.

If I lived in one like Ohio or Florida though and having seen what happened in 2000 ....

In a way found his "Melania and Ivanka, did they do a job!!!" even worse - what about the three other kids that spoke? This was also slightly weird

Yeah...very weird.

Surprised the 'what if' tweet and retweet didn't resonate with you. If Obama had 5 kids from 3 women or had Hillary had 5 kids from 3 men, you can bet your butt that Fox News would have spent weeks character assassinating them.

The current reality can be depressing enough, I try not to add to it with "what if" scenarios!

Understand that...I need to go to bed ffs. But I do think it speaks volumes about where we are here in the states, socially.

Fox News would be on a witch hunt with a black man running for president with 5 kids from 3 women, just as they'd do with a white woman with 5 kids from 3 men. It would be a massive talking point, if not at least a central argument against both of them.
