To be fair, Schneiderlin looked ace in his first couple of games, Gomes had some of us going giddy for most of his loan spell. I like what I've seen so far from VDB but let's not get too excited yet eh.

Schneiderlin & Gomes careers had already peaked when they landed here.

VDB has many years of progress ahead of him.

That really is quite extraordinary.

Yes. How many times after we've seen one or two great performances, hoping for more but only to get disappointed later? I think he is undoubtedly an upgrade to Andre Gomes. But the issue with a lot of Everton players is consistency. We have plenty of talented players but they struggle for consistency.

Talking about the type of player; have been harking on since back then that Idrissa needed the right partner, not Schneiderlin and if you didn't get it you couldn't have a player like Sig.
Now that you got Alan and VDB you've got the option of playing Gordon or Douc or Ali without the arse falling out of it.
Gueye was always done a disservice by the club by other dross around him.

Gotcha, So your saying we need a VDB as a rock platform to allow more freedom for our more forward thinking players. Agreed.

They never really had a real bounce when he arrived. They lost the first few if i'm not mistaken.

Just had a look, he's only won 4 of his 12 games in charge so far.

Schneiderlin, Gueye, Sigurdsson, Davies, Beni, Gomes, Gbamin, Alan, James, Iwobi - not one of them comes close to solving the problem, in all this time the closest we've got to is a 6mth loan from Utd

And maybe this great club has been in compete disarray for so long bc it's never been able to find a player who can take the ball into tight spaces anywhere on the pitch and, in particular, in CM
