Adrissa was ace, I except the other names on that list to a degree but Gueye was brilliant and is exactly the type of player we have been missing since he left. Saying that though, VDB looks a baller.

It’s a real good point, well made. They’re open as hell, there’s lots of space and time in that midfield. Iwobi had a great game Saturday as well, let’s wait and see how they get on against a more competitive team, physically and tactically.

Gueye (and Alan) are not VDB type players though.
Its also the same team that drew 3-3 at Villa in the week, unlucky not to get all 3 points tbh.

Talking about the type of player; have been harking on since back then that Idrissa needed the right partner, not Schneiderlin and if you didn't get it you couldn't have a player like Sig.
Now that you got Alan and VDB you've got the option of playing Gordon or Douc or Ali without the arse falling out of it.
Gueye was always done a disservice by the club by other dross around him.
Ignoring the foolish Klaessen mk 2 jibes by the usual doom mongers , the lad is class & a massive upgrade to our midfield.
As it stands he's here for the next 16 games , if he excels for us it will be a good signing.
If he feels at home here and the club match his ambitions then i've no doubt the club would make it happen.
Whatever happens we now know the calibre & type of player Lampard wants to bring in.

Just worried Frank builds a team around him and we go back to the drawing book if he doesn’t sign permanently.? Think he’s a quality player, I am excited about match days again.
I think the thing about VDB is you don’t need to build a team around him because he’s a clever versatile player.
With James, Carlo had to play every attack through him and know that we basically had ten men when defending (even though I think he tried his best he was just crap at tackling), but with VDB he just gets himself involved in the middle whether we’re in possession or needing to press.
I also think VDB can play any role in the middle, probably best as a box to box but could easily play CAM or CDM too.
To be fair, Schneiderlin looked ace in his first couple of games, Gomes had some of us going giddy for most of his loan spell. I like what I've seen so far from VDB but let's not get too excited yet eh.
