Sometimes the dirty washing needs to be taken down to the river though mate
& hung out to dry.
...whoa! I think that is a huge admission that the manager acted with zero principle all along here. Suddenly the 'no one is bigger than the club' defence looks a bit threadbare.
How on earth can we have a manager who accepts that a player is negotiating with our nearest rivals at Christmas and brings him on for the Derby match at Anfield in March?
Probably one of the most incredible moments in Merseyside football history we have unfolding here.
It says more about the values and respect that Everton has compared to so many other clubs. Look at Man City, how many second chances is Mancini giving. They can actually afford to sack players because they can bring whoever they want in for cover. We don't have that luxury and we still pissed him off...This is a club I want to support, a club that actually upholds its values.
That's the issue though mate: he was given umpteen chances when he shouldn't have been.
I happen to believe that Liverpool are a much bigger club and who wouldn't want to play in front of the kop on those famous European nights.
Discuss.
i dont mind him going as long as we get someone exciting in (Ahem) pienaar donovan etc are great, but drenthe had that x factor quality- raw pace,a great shot from distance AND unpredictability(sometimes to his detriment) its the first player we have had like this since limpar/kanchelskis
WHEN will we get another??
Sorry, but the reputation of the manager is damaged here.
It's alright saying 'incremental' and three strikes and you're out...but what way is that to run a club when the emphasis has always been on cohesion and discipline and teamwork? Somehow I cant really see Victor turning up constantly late for training, frigging off and coming back late from the continent and having a quiet word with another club and then being given the leeway this feller apparently had. And that goes for any other player at the club.
There's two possibilities here: either the extent of Drenthe's misdemeanours has been wildly exaggerated and Moyes just gave a warning then got rid...and he hasn't been seriously talking to Liverpool and that they were maybe pursuing him (unlikely for the most part given what LCAB has said) - in which case you can get your head around why he lasted so long...
..or
...Moyes has given this feller license to do things he'd afford no other player (and the fact he was on loan or on contract makes **** all difference to that, btw) in which case he's just stored up trouble for the future over discipline matters and it's incredible he'd allow him to last that long to do that.
Let's get away from the black and white. There is none to be had here...just all hands coming up smelling a bit shitty. If we can accept that there's not much else to ebate. I just get the impression though that Moyes has to be painted as completely the wronged and innocent party here. He's not.
IF he shows his mug on the bench at home, then any attempt to warm up will be met with some straight questions.
I have a feeling that I'll be telling him to take off our shirt as we dont want him in it any more.
someone may even chuck him a rag to put on. stick him on the bench to face the music Moyes, they're a vociferous bunch down by St. Lukes.
