Duncan Ferguson the coach

I dont see any evidence of DF being a top class coach. He added nothing to Lukaku's game, despite all the talk he did. And I cant think of any other striker coming through and vastly improving.
is he strictly a striker coach? lukaku has given him credit and DCL has certainly improved, was always a great athlete but starting to look more and more a footballer, albeit a rough one still, I am yet to see any persuasive arguments that dunc is a poor coach, or anything from anyone within the club

this thread is the distilled essence of all internet football supporterdom.

142 posts, most of which pontificate with great vigour and conviction over a question nobody could possibly actually know anything about.
That's not the case at all abelard. We've had two manager's sacked for crimes against coaching, along with their staff. Dunc's still here, because he has an alibi - he wasn't involved in the coaching in any serious way. He was an innocent bystander. If he had been playing a meaningful role then his position would not be tenable. How could it be? I've just coached Everton into relegation form, can I get my contract renewed?

I agree none of us know what his pseudo-coaching role exactly is, and whether it's a good, bad, or indifferent thing. Said up thread that I was a big fan of Dunc as a player, so it's fine by me if he's making a contribution. I think it does look bad, though (for him more than anything else), to just skate through two regimes that ended in catastrophe. Makes it appear that he has no skin in the game.

We all know how much power the players have these days they obviously enjoy working with Duncan .if they dident they he would be gone he must be good to have around the place .and am glad he is still one of us

Alright mate. If you went back and looked you’d see I’m consistent on Ferguson as a coach.

Nothing to do with being edgy or a keyboard warrior.

He’s been a part of two staffs that have seen the manager sacked and he has survived, it is unheard of. All because of his name.

Quite sad really.

It's unheard of you say. I'm going to assume you're new to football so I'll give you one example of it not being unheard of.
Chris Hughton was a coach at Spurs for years and years and years. He worked under various different managers that nearly all ultimately failed in their job. There was never any blame attached to him that I know of and when he eventually went into management he has shown to be very good at that too.
Just because a young coach who is learning his trade works under a couple of managers who have been seen to have failed, doesn't mean the blame has to spread to everyone associated with the coaching staff.
Quite frankly anyone who comes out with this glorified cone putter outer or whatever it is, is just a bad snide that needs to stop seeking attention, have a little think to themselves and start acting like a grown up.

While were about it - get shut of this clown too.

I sincerely hope and trust he wont survive the next managerial change.
