Yes it could be. He seems to have a few of the old guard as chums.
If people had listen to his press conference,he mentions how Duncan has spoke to him previously about us.Doubt that would happen outside of a social context.
can't believe people slagging ferguson an that red rat sammy lee not even gettin a mention
Might have something to do with the thread title?

I find the desire amongst certain elements of our support to attack the man, pretty pathetic in all honesty
The people doing this are doing so on the basis of zero evidence. They don't see his work, his style, his preparation anything, but are prepared to comment whether he is good or bad at his job.

Honestly, it's like having a team of fire fighters who keep getting a new chief every 18 months, a house burns down, so these melts choose a name from the team at random and shoot.

The irony is, thesee people could well be sat at a desk in work, and rather than actually doing any work, they're on their pc moaning about how bad they think another person is at their job!

And the same people get a vote.

To all those who question what he does, can you give an in depth breakdown of what the responsibilities of Lee or Shakespear will be.?
He is an assistant coach, all clubs have a team of coaches who assist in taking groups of players through their drills as directed by the head coach. It is possible with his experience, he has special responsibilities in coaching the forwards.
No doubt he will offer his opinions on the players based on his observations during training. In short he performs the duties of every other assistant coach at every other club.
He is a passionate Evertonian.
He is also a thug , he wouldn’t have served a stretch otherwise, but it would be hypocritical of me to condemn him for this.
Remember thugs are people too. :)

It's endemic amongst football fans, at least when it was steve round I had heard he was a bit of a bell, never heard a single bad about dunc from anyone in the club

Duncan didn't choose the thug life, the thug life chose him.

From what I've seen of him, he takes drills. I remember a video of him counting while players did press ups.

I haven't a clue if he can coach or not to be honest. I like him, he has given the club a lot but I now have to question his influence on things now. Fat Sam has brought in his cronies,

That was always going tp happen, every manager has hangers on. Look at Moyes, would you have liked Stuart Pearson?

RK had three folk in there one of which was his brother.

He's still here after all this time for a reason. For all his faults, Koeman was no nonsense and would have shipped him out right away if he didn't have obvious coaching talent. Similarly, Allardyce is also a no nonsense kind of guy who would bin off anyone he doesn't rate, and Ferguson is still here, so clearly he's here for a good reason.

Good cheerleaders are hard to find...

It was Martinez who first spotted something about him re coaching ability and if I remember right vaulted him into first team coaching ahead of Sheedy and Unsworth. He’s the DCL of the coaching world, people will moan about him because they can’t see what he brings, but somehow a variety of managers look at him and see something they like, so he must be doing something right.
