Duncan Ferguson the coach

Why shouldn't he stay who on here can categorically state he's no good at his job with both feet firmly in solid ground, absolutely no one.
The man loves the place and none of the other mercenaries who are wobbling through here and picking up millions do.
So hats off to guy he's an Evertonian who, brace yourselves lovers of schmaltz "gets Everton"

Tell em baz lad, PREACH.

There are a whole load of people I would boot out before Duncan, and they play on the pitch. Let the new management team decide and leave it to them. If Duncan can't fit in then so be it.

Don't get the anti Dunc feelings of some on here.
How do any of us know how good an assistant coach he is ?
Successive management seem to rate him.
Without any evidence to the contrary , why should he get the chop.
Let him stay in my view.

Pretty much sums it up. There seems a lot of people on here who are sure that Ferguson offers nothing on the training field and behind the scenes but the truth of the matter is that we've all spent less time at Finch Farm than that purple dildo that got waved around on deadline day a while back and as such have no idea what he does or does not do...

The thing is none of us know how good or bad a coach he is? Only the players can tell us this. And they won’t state he’s bad publically

He shouldn’t be here just because he was a club legend. I want him here based on merit.

You’d hope if we had a backbone (which we don’t) we’d have got rid if he wasn’t any good

So you don't actually know if he's here on merit or not, you just assume he's here because he's a club 'legend'?

Just out of interest, when did you last post anything positive about our club?

No i said none of us know how good he is

And that I’d hope he is here based on merit

Delighted that someone with everton in his blood must be doing well at finch farm. To survuve the cull he must be offering something very positive there. Prib wasnt invivled anyway under big sam just a show piece. Dunc... "listen Sam what kind of work do you want me to do with the forwards"? Sam sniggers "forwards!!"..

I am only going to read the posts of those people who have actual experience of Duncan as a coach.

:coffee:

Or any of the other coaches that come under the GOT microscope. Really lads. Really?

If you're part of a number of regimes deemed to have failed then you go. Simple as that. If that wasn't the case we'd have a string of first team coaches from the Martinez/Koeman/Allardyce years all with a legitimate case to stay on "because we dont know what good work they do if any".

The argument is spurious. He's been part of many coaching teams that all left the club when it was time for them to go. So why are we keeping hold of him so long? He was front and centre with Allardyce and giving him advice during matches FFS!

The feller is on the easiest gravy train there's ever been. There is NO justification for him to be retained in the dugout whatsoever. He is a curse.

BTW, for that ^^^ reason I think, for all the talk about Silva keeping him, he'll be nowhere near our front bench. Silva values his confidants and like-minded tacticians. No room for a galoot in that company.

In fairness to him the BFS one we delete from memories and Koeman we know was a dictator.

If you look during the home match against the RS you see in the last 15 minutes when we decided to play football the cameras panned round to Dunc he was the one barking the orders and the scathing looks from Mr drink you own P and BFS were there to see. I'll dig the footage out when I get time, I was away but still got the recording.

If things dont work out this season coming though I wouldn't expect him to be here much longer.

By that argument, Unsworth must go too. And Ebbrell. Personally I don't think it's that simple.

As for 'he is a curse', well, that's just silly.

I'm all for continuity of backroom staff. I haven't seen anything to suggest that Duncan isn't performing - his role isn't influential enough to affect what a Manager will do with the team. Even the greatest coach in the world isn't going to turn a Sam Allardyce team in to an attacking dynamo. I also think it's important that we have people who have extensive knowledge of Everton in our coaching staff.

But having said all that, I don't have any first hand experience of the situation, and I wouldn't oblige Brands and Silva to keep staff they deem surplus to requirements. Personally, I hope they keep him on - not for sentimentality, but for the reasons I've already stated.

Pretty sure Dunc was just giving Sam minute-by-minute pie updates.
