Duncan Ferguson the coach

In fairness to him the BFS one we delete from memories and Koeman we know was a dictator.

If you look during the home match against the RS you see in the last 15 minutes when we decided to play football the cameras panned round to Dunc he was the one barking the orders and the scathing looks from Mr drink you own P and BFS were there to see. I'll dig the footage out when I get time, I was away but still got the recording.

If things dont work out this season coming though I wouldn't expect him to be here much longer.
I think that's grasping at the shortest of short straws tbh mate.

By that argument, Unsworth must go too. And Ebbrell. Personally I don't think it's that simple.

As for 'he is a curse', well, that's just silly.

They stepped in to fill a void and are now nowhere near the first team bench.

Give him one of the youth teams now so we can see what he's got.

I'd also bring Unsworth into the 1st team staff. Think he should be in and around it now.
I would have liked to have seen him as the number 2.

from all accounts unsworth hasn't covered himself in glory since not getting the job, u23's have been a mess since

Can only go on what i saw mate. Wasnt the 1st time he was snarling at the people above him the dugouts. I do agree this is last chance saloon for him though.

There is no rational reason for Ferguson to remain on the staff, as much as I like the guy. If we transitioning from a successful manager and coaching staff, you could argue that Ferguson could provide some continuity, but he has been part and parcel of regimes that can be regarded as nothing other than absolute failures.

Clearly Brands and Silva were briefed in advance that he is staying on, a bit like fixtures and fittings when you buy a house. I imagine both of them are too consumed with other things to raise any objection, but I can't see him playing a role of any significance. It would surely be better for him to try and cut it in a new environment rather than the comfort blanket that Everton all too easily seem to be willing to provide.

It's no big deal but it doesn't smack of the lean and mean club I'd like to see us become. Nothing against Duncan, but he is a square peg in that dugout.

Then that someone who's doing the briefing has no conception about what the club's supporters feel about Ferguson. The vast majority wouldn't give a flying one if he was kept on for first team coaching or not.

It troubles me that he's retained. You dont keep anyone associated with recurring failure but get shut of those associated with just one failed regime. It makes no sense and it gives the impression we as a club are prepared to play patrons to a figure from the past who really wan't all that.

Hopefully Silva keeps him at arms length and well away from the front bench in the dugout.

could be the one that causes the rot... you nevevr know.

These are going to be the interesting first decisions he makes.

Baines, Jagielka, Mirallas, Williams, Rooney, Schneiderlin are the snide problems. Ferguson should be punted on the basis that if you're looking to establish a meriticracy it makes no 'kin sense to keep on hiring a failure.

If you're part of a number of regimes deemed to have failed then you go. Simple as that. If that wasn't the case we'd have a string of first team coaches from the Martinez/Koeman/Allardyce years all with a legitimate case to stay on "because we dont know what good work they do if any".

The argument is spurious. He's been part of many coaching teams that all left the club when it was time for them to go. So why are we keeping hold of him so long? He was front and centre with Allardyce and giving him advice during matches FFS!

The feller is on the easiest gravy train there's ever been. There is NO justification for him to be retained in the dugout whatsoever. He is a curse.

BTW, for that ^^^ reason I think, for all the talk about Silva keeping him, he'll be nowhere near our front bench. Silva values his confidants and like-minded tacticians. No room for a galoot in that company.
Tbf Dave, none of us know whether he's a good or bad coach as we've never got near to training to find out but I have the same feeling as you (as much as Big Dunc is a hero of mine) that he is only kept on because of his cult hero status not because of his coaching, hope I'm proven wrong tho.

to be fair all these players have down tools more than once under various managers

Same with all the others who WERE sacked though.

As said, he's seen by Kenwright/Moshiri as a "touch stone" figure./...something he really isn't, and he does not carry the credibility they attribute to him and impress upon new managers.

It's a joke.
