He's an assistant manager clubs have any number of them they , wait for it , assist the manager. They assist in the training of players according to the managers or his more senior assistants instructions.
He does not select the team , set the tactics or decide the style or length of training sessions he just assists.
His influence on the team and the results ,good or bad ,is negligible.
There are far more malign influences at the club than Ferguson.
