Duncan Ferguson - The Coach

Whatever happens to Fergy, at least you can say the players fought for him. I can’t say that about our past 4 managers. It was an impressive comeback and something we would have never done in a cup prior to today. Shame it went to penalties as that is almost always a 50/50

He is Carlo assistant mate.

Nobody wanted Duncan as manager, not even Duncan.
Some of the media certainly do because they see our identity as very much in the shadow of our neighbour. It suits their narrative you see. Like appointing Allardyce it's a pretty small-time thing to do don't you think? Moshiri has learned the hard way regarding this.

What really gets my goat is fans that I would call the small-time, play it safe, dinosaur mentality type blues! We all know the type. Those fans who think emotionally rather than rationally. They play it safe. They think hard work and dying for your shirt is the only answer.

You will usually hear them shout, "Give the job to Dunc. Those players have shown more fight in one match than all season for Marco. He understands the fans. He's one of us!"

He's not the answer though. We are in a relegation scrap at present. We need the best to steer us clear and to then to go on and build a platform for this great club.

Unfortunately, some fans would be content watching yard dogs hunt in packs and pump it long for DCL game after the game rather than any particular school of science. Big Dunc is from an era of failure you see. A time of survival. His style may win us some breathing space at the bottom but would sink us long term in my opinion.

Recruiting ex-players as managers can seem the right way. However, Kendall was from an era of winners and there's the difference...

I think what these Coach Ferguson games have demonstrated are:
(a) Ferguson was able to inject some passion and drive into the players.
(b) All the passion and drive in the world cannot make up for the failings and weaknesses of individuals.
(c) We need a world class manager running things.

Hopefully point C will be taken care of in the next few days.

As I said mate, everybody was fully behind the fact that we need an actual manager.

Personally I think hes done very well, we were poor at times today but we are still unbeaten under him.

With a squad that has 15 players missing through injury I think hes doing a wonderful job.
