Duncan Ferguson - The Coach

Can't fault the job he's done for us considering our opponents, injury list and form before he took over. He's been exactly what we needed. I'm not sure Ancelotti would be an option for us without Ferguson showing what the team is capable of.

As I said mate, everybody was fully behind the fact that we need an actual manager.

Personally I think hes done very well, we were poor at times today but we are still unbeaten under him.

With a squad that has 15 players missing through injury, I think he's doing a wonderful job.
He has done very well. I can't disagree. For now, especially if we get a point from the Arsenal, it's very much a case of 'job done.' It gives us some breathing space at least for the new manager.

Not sure why you think EVERYBODY was fully behind us needing another manager though.

Maybe to some extent on this forum but my experience has been very different at the ground, at work and at my local In fact, quite a few of my blue acquaintances would rather have Dunc than Carlo! It's more real for them you see. They would feel closer to the club. That mentality quite frankly blows my mind.

Small-time Evertonian's wanting Big Dunc as manager deserve to support a small club. Just cos he gets some emotion and fight out of the players does not make him a world-class manager.

AND WE NEED A WORLD CLASS MANAGER

All this hugging the ballboy and wearing a sweatband is cool but in the end, will only see us laughed at down the road. His style of play is a throwback to the 90s. It is good in the short term but is no way the answer for us going forward. 100mph Hoofball will become very boring and cause tremendous injuries 20 games down the line. I adore the fella but if we want to be taken seriously going into a new stadium we need the best managing us.
He's an utter phoney taking the piss.

Playing a load of blues like a grand piano.

It's been basic and huff and puff.

You cant build on that. You need a brain to get players playing.

Some of the media certainly do because they see our identity as very much in the shadow of our neighbour. It suits their narrative you see. Like appointing Allardyce it's a pretty small-time thing to do don't you think? Moshiri has learned the hard way regarding this.

What really gets my goat is fans that I would call the small-time, play it safe, dinosaur mentality type blues! We all know the type. Those fans who think emotionally rather than rationally. They play it safe. They think hard work and dying for your shirt is the only answer.

You will usually hear them shout, "Give the job to Dunc. Those players have shown more fight in one match than all season for Marco. He understands the fans. He's one of us!"

He's not the answer though. We are in a relegation scrap at present. We need the best to steer us clear and to then to go on and build a platform for this great club.

Unfortunately, some fans would be content watching yard dogs hunt in packs and pump it long for DCL game after the game rather than any particular school of science. Big Dunc is from an era of failure you see. A time of survival. His style may win us some breathing space at the bottom but would sink us long term in my opinion.

Recruiting ex-players as managers can seem the right way. However, Kendall was from an era of winners and there's the difference...

He did very well. Thats all people are saying. The fact some people have to convince themselves it is all a media conspiracy to pretend he did very well, merely to sabotage us, only highlights the ridiculous lengths some will go to protect the narratives they themselves propagate on forums like this one. People Just hedge their bets, and when their predictions pan out, take it to mean they know what they’re talking about. But, you me, and Gary Neville, are by and large all equally clueless!

Duncan may be a great manager for us, and don Carlo may be a dismal failure.

Carlo is the better bet sure, but it might not work out like that in reality!

Haha you don't mince your words do ya, club legend or not!

You may well be right but if we can get a point from Arsenal you must agree its been a worthwhile endeavour don't you think?

If we'd lost the two last games we'd be right down there in the soup. Ask yourself would Silva have achieved more over this festive period?

If I was forced to make a bet on who would be better for us long term it will always be Carlo for me That is if he gets substantial transfer funds to use. There are many obvious reasons for this. I guess mostly it upsets me to see us play like yard dogs. I know it's working for now but there is no way i'd enjoy watching that style week in week out. I saw enough of that guff back in the 90s!

I think Duncs time will come, this spell is only a taster for him and he’s shown us one thing he can do the job. But this chance for him had just come to soon, if our next manager fails I’m sure then Dunc will be given it full time.

Would be happy for him to continue for the rest of December to be honest. Ancelotti on paper is everything you would want from a manager, he's won and seen it all, vast amounts of experience, tactical knowledge, managed some of the best clubs around and handled elite level players but I'm not quite sure he's what we need. Yes I know that sounds stupid.

I mean Duncan Ferguson vs Carlo Ancelotti...it's not even a contest but I can't shake the feeling that we need somebody who knows the club inside out, loves the club, ignites the fans and gets the team fighting for the shirt. I mean Ancelotti could very well do that himself but we are the poorest squad he's going to manage in 20 years.
