I think there's more Ferguson's tactics than just basic football with huff and puff.

As for building, you need players to get players playing. It's premature to judge Duncan for having a depleted squad.

It is basic mate. Silva had a depleted first team but had them playing with more guile, if less commitment.

Ferguson is a bargain basement motivator.
