Dunkirk

I saw this at Fact today. A disappointment for me on a few levels.

The opening few minutes are really impressive, with retreating troops in action in the back streets of Dunkirk.

The Hans Zimmer soundtrack tends to drown out a lot of the dialogue, and the structure is basically a set of mini-stories rolled into one.

I appreciate it's not meant to be history or a documentary, but as a film I found it floored.

The part where hopefully the entire german army rain all their ammunition into him (for ref think of the ED-209 scene in Robocop, only this one goes on for half an hour) and then a couple of hundred jab their bayonets into his head just to make sure he is dead afterwards.

Just re-write history. Simples. Kids probably think William Wallace was a short anti-semitic scotsman with an American/Australian accent, why stop there?

Or we can keep remaking Zulu every year due to the high proportion of ethnic minorities to keep everyone happy. Except for the lack of female parts that is...

It used to be you can't please everyone all the time, it's now more like you can't please anyone any of the time.
